A globally leading consumer device company based in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Systems Validation Engineer to join their Validation and Tools team. This role is critical in ensuring the timely and thorough validation of x86 systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with our 3rd Party Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) team on firmware and system level qualifications, and developing test cases, related automation and overall progress for their effort. This position is vital in preventing bottlenecks in the release process and ensuring team meets aggressive engineering commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform internal system-level validation and Product Release Qualifications (PRQs) across multiple concurrent hardware programs, new SKUs, and firmware releases.
• Execute qualifications for server components (e.g., SSDs, Memory, Networking) and review/approve hardware component changes.
• Create, evaluate, and refine test plans to ensure proper system qualifications for both internal and external testing.
• Review test results and logs from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), provide actionable feedback, and grant final sign-off.
• Interact with OEM partners for new SKU qualifications, specifically helping to develop system validation test plans for next-generation platform development.
• Work with 3rd party on onboarding and driving Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) efforts, working closely with 3rd-party vendors to facilitate system validation, scope work, and manage timelines, with a primary focus on firmware qualifications, including test case development and progress tracking.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., System EE, Tools) to define validation strategies, kick off hardware enablement, and support tool development.
• Drive continuous improvement of system validation processes, defining specific validation requirements based on the type of release (e.g., HW component change, new FW release, new SKU).
• Develop, maintain, and execute test automation scripts and frameworks for system validation, including baseline tests, FIO cases, and CPU/Memory stress testing.
• Document system validation timelines, schedules, configurations, and processes on internal wikis to ensure team alignment.
• Provide training and enablement to internal team members on validation test execution, host setup, and data analysis methodologies.
• Perform hands-on test validation for select system-level validation.
Required Qualifications:
• BS in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with 8+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Demonstrated experience reviewing test plans and defining validation criteria for complex electrical systems.
• Hands-on expertise in performing internal systems tests, bringing up hardware, and debugging system-level issues.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven track record of communicating technical requirements and issues directly with vendors and suppliers.
• Ability to operate standard electrical test and measurement equipment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to isolate failures and drive root cause analysis.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple validation tasks independently in a fast-paced environment.
