OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Enterprise Managed Container Platform Architect to lead the strategy, architecture, and standardization of enterprise container platforms across AWS cloud environments. This role will drive the design and adoption of scalable, secure, and automated container solutions utilizing AWS EKS, ECS, Kubernetes, and cloud-native technologies while establishing platform standards, governance, and operational best practices.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on architect with deep expertise in Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, and container operations who can collaborate across architecture, engineering, security, DevOps, and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities- Define and lead the enterprise architecture strategy for container platforms, including AWS EKS, ECS, Kubernetes, and supporting cloud services.
- Develop platform standards, reference architectures, design patterns, and governance controls for secure container adoption.
- Design scalable, automated Kubernetes platforms using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), GitOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Helm.
- Establish workload placement strategies and guide teams on EKS vs. ECS platform selection.
- Architect solutions for networking, ingress, DNS, identity management, secrets management, certificates, autoscaling, and policy enforcement.
- Drive container security best practices, including image scanning, signing, vulnerability management, admission controls, RBAC, and software supply chain security.
- Define observability strategies leveraging monitoring, logging, tracing, dashboards, and alerting capabilities.
- Create resiliency, disaster recovery, backup, and recovery standards for mission-critical workloads.
- Partner with application and platform teams on containerization, deployment, scaling, and production readiness efforts.
- Lead architecture governance discussions and communicate recommendations, risks, trade-offs, and implementation strategies to technical and executive stakeholders.
- Mentor platform engineers, architects, and DevOps teams on Kubernetes and cloud-native best practices.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, cloud architecture, platform engineering, DevOps, software engineering, or related technology roles.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing enterprise container platforms using AWS EKS, ECS, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Strong expertise in Kubernetes architecture, cluster lifecycle management, networking, storage, autoscaling, ingress, DNS, secrets, and workload deployment.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools including Terraform, Helm, CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, and configuration management.
- Strong understanding of container security, vulnerability management, image registries, policy enforcement, RBAC, and software supply chain security.
- Experience designing cloud-native monitoring, logging, tracing, observability, and operational support frameworks.
- Proven background in high availability, disaster recovery, backup, restore, and resiliency planning.
- Experience with cloud cost optimization, governance, capacity management, and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence technical and business leaders.
Preferred Qualifications- Deep expertise with AWS services including EKS, ECS, ECR, IAM, load balancing, Fargate, and cloud-native observability tools.
- Experience with Argo CD, GitOps operating models, Harness, Terraform AWS Modules, and automated platform delivery frameworks.
- Knowledge of container networking and security solutions such as Cilium.
- Experience with Karpenter, cluster autoscaling, and capacity optimization tools.
- Experience with enterprise container management platforms such as Rancher, OpenShift, or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with Velero, Kyverno, Open Policy Agent (OPA), OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Fluent Bit, and Logstash.
- Experience with secrets and certificate management platforms including AWS Secrets Manager, Vault, cert-manager, and Keyfactor.
- Experience building internal developer platforms, platform engineering operating models, and self-service capabilities.
- AWS, Kubernetes, Solutions Architecture, DevOps, Security, or related cloud certifications.
- Experience working in regulated industries such as financial services, banking, insurance, or healthcare.
