About the Role:
Sky Solutions is seeking an experienced Digital Platform Developer III – PHP to support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of a web-based digital platform supporting a Federal Government client.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with PHP, MySQL, Apache, AWS, and modern software development practices. This role combines application development with cloud infrastructure, database management, DevSecOps, security, and production support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance PHP-based web applications using Apache and MySQL.
- Develop and maintain application features, workflows, dashboards, reporting, user administration, and data-driven functionality.
- Design, configure, and support applications deployed across AWS cloud environments.
- Work with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, SNS, SES, S3, VPC, Kinesis Firehose, RDS, Systems Manager, and AWS Elemental MediaConvert.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, security scanning, and deployment processes.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and support cloud security and compliance requirements.
- Perform MySQL database administration, schema development, query optimization, backup/recovery, and data security.
- Troubleshoot application and production issues and support performance, scalability, and reliability improvements.
- Support vulnerability scanning and remediation using tools such as Tenable.io.
- Develop and maintain document/report generation capabilities and secure file-upload and scanning processes.
- Support application monitoring, logging, and observability.
- Participate in cloud cost optimization and FinOps activities.
- Support software supply-chain security, including SBOM development and related compliance activities.
Required Qualifications:
· 5+ years of professional experience in PHP application development and software engineering.
· Strong hands-on experience with PHP, Apache, and MySQL.
· Experience developing and supporting web-based enterprise applications.
· Experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-based application environments.
· Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and DevSecOps practices.
· Experience with database design, administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
· Strong problem-solving and production-support skills.
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting Federal Government or other regulated environments.
- Experience with AWS GovCloud or FedRAMP-authorized environments.
- Experience working with audit, compliance, inspection, or regulatory applications.
- Experience supporting or modernizing legacy PHP applications.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and compliance-as-code.
- Experience with Tenable.io, ClamAV, wkhtmltopdf, LibreOffice, Prince, or similar technologies.
- Experience with SBOM and software supply-chain security.
- AWS, security, or related technical certifications.
