Location: Remote (anywhere in US), but with travel
Previous recruiting efforts have focused on finding individuals with both:
- Strong finance domain expertise
- Deep Epicor knowledge, including:
- Configuration
- System design
- Reporting
- Financial process optimization
Current Initiative
- Several companies are already operating on Epicor
- Additional businesses are being brought onto Epicor as part of the standardization effort
- The consultant will support a global Epicor program involving:
- New implementations
- Standardization of legacy Epicor instances
- Creation of a common global design and framework
- Alignment of business processes across multiple operating companies
While standardization is the goal, they recognize that some business units have unique requirements that must be accommodated.
Ideal Consultant Profile
They are seeking a full-time consultant who can serve as a strategic lead and trusted advisor throughout the transformation.
Travel Requirements:
- Approximately 25% travel
- Typically 2 3 trips per month
- Travel may involve week-long onsite visits
- Could increase to as much as 50% during major implementation or go-live activities
- Expenses paid for by client
Key Requirements
Techno-Functional Expertise
They are looking for someone who combines:
- Strong Epicor Kinetic expertise
- Deep finance and accounting knowledge
- Ability to bridge the gap between technology and business stakeholders
The consultant must be able to:
- Challenge implementation partners when necessary
- Hold vendors accountable
- Recommend best practices
- Guide internal teams
- Drive decisions rather than simply facilitate meetings
Will emphasized the importance of finding someone with enough confidence and experience to push back on both implementation partners and internal stakeholders when appropriate.
Finance Functional Requirements
Strong understanding of:
- General Ledger (GL)
- Accounts Payable (AP)
- Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Chart of Accounts design
- Financial reporting
- Financial process standardization
The organization does not have highly complex financial requirements, but they want to establish consistent processes and standards across the business.
Reporting & Analytics
Reporting experience is considered a major differentiator.
Key areas include:
- Epicor reporting
- Data modeling
- Data governance
- KPI standardization
- Data integrity and reporting architecture
Will noted that the challenge is not simply implementing an ERP system. They also need someone who understands the downstream reporting implications and can help establish a scalable reporting framework.
"Gold star" experience:
- Experience designing reporting frameworks and data models
- Power BI expertise
- Building reporting environments after ERP implementations
Industry Experience
Preferred background:
- Manufacturing environments
- ERP implementations within manufacturing organizations
- Epicor Kinetic Financials implementations
- Finance transformation programs
Manufacturing accounting experience would be highly valuable given Flex-Tek's operating environment.
