Position Overview
Persistent Systems is seeking a skilled Java Automation Test Engineer to support a banking and financial services client. The consultant will be responsible for developing automated API and UI functional tests, executing manual functional testing, and contributing to Java development activities.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute automated API functional tests using Java and REST Assured.
Design and implement automated UI functional tests using Playwright.
Develop, maintain, and enhance reusable automation frameworks and test scripts.
Design and execute manual functional test cases covering end-to-end application functionality.
Use test management and defect-tracking tools such as Xray and HP ALM.
Analyze test results, identify defects, document issues, and work closely with development teams to resolve them.
Perform regression, integration, functional, and end-to-end testing.
Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
Conduct Java development using IntelliJ IDEA, including writing, debugging, and maintaining Java code.
Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and QA teams to understand requirements and define effective test coverage.
Contribute to CI/CD automation and continuous improvement of testing processes.
Required Skills
Strong hands-on experience with Java.
Strong experience with REST Assured for API automation.
Hands-on experience with Playwright for UI automation.
Experience developing and maintaining automated functional testing frameworks.
Strong understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, JSON, and API validation.
Experience with manual functional testing and test case design.
Experience with Xray and/or HP ALM.
Experience using IntelliJ IDEA for Java development.
Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Banking or financial services domain experience.
Experience with CI/CD tools and automated test execution pipelines.
Experience with Git and Maven/Gradle.
Knowledge of SQL and database validation.
Experience integrating automation tests into CI/CD pipelines.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
