About the Role: Senior Integrations Developer Hybrid
D365 F&O/CE, D365 Commerce, Shopify & Azure Integration Services Architecture & Technical Leadership
Job Title: Senior Integrations Developer
Department: Engineering / IT ERP Implementation Program
Reports To: Integration Architect / Director of Engineering
Location: Charlotte, NC (or) Remote who can travel to Charlotte, NC once a month
Position Summary
Our Client is seeking an experienced Senior Integrations Developer to design, build, and lead delivery of the integration layer connecting our core business systems during a large-scale Microsoft Dynamics 365 (F&O and CE) implementation. This role owns the technical design of integrations to and from D365 Finance & Operations, D365 Customer Engagement, D365 Commerce (including Distributed Order Management), Shopify, and other systems in our landscape, primarily using Azure Integration Services (AIS) and provides technical leadership to a team of developers building against that design.
This is a build-from-the-ground-up opportunity for a senior developer who thrives on solving real-time and batch integration challenges across ERP, CRM, commerce, and ecommerce platforms. The successful candidate will establish integration patterns, error handling and monitoring standards, and reusable components that support the business not just through go-live, but through years of future system changes while mentoring less senior developers and acting as the technical escalation point for the integration workstream.
The ideal candidate is a strong technical architect-developer who can work independently against ambiguous requirements, communicate clearly with implementation partners, functional consultants, and business stakeholders, and set the technical bar for integration code that is resilient, observable, and maintainable.
Key Responsibilities
Integration Architecture & Design
- Own the technical design of integrations to and from **D365 Finance & Operations** and **D365 Customer Engagement**, selecting appropriate patterns (Data Management Framework, Dual-write, Virtual Entities, Web APIs)
- Design the integration architecture for **D365 Commerce**, including **Distributed Order Management (DOM)** processes such as order orchestration, fulfilment routing, and inventory visibility across channels
- Architect the **Shopify-to-AIS integration**, ensuring reliable, near-real-time synchronization of orders, inventory, product/catalog data, and customer information between Shopify and D365
- Define integration standards and reusable patterns using **Azure Integration Services** Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Service Bus, API Management, and Azure Data Factory as appropriate to each use case
- Design integration architecture for the **InRiver PIM**, ensuring product and attribute data flows correctly into D365 F&O and out to Shopify
- Design for idempotency, retry logic, and failure recovery across all integration touchpoints
- Own the overall integration architecture roadmap, including recommendations on middleware patterns as the system landscape grows
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical direction and code review for a team of Integrations Developers, ensuring adherence to architecture and coding standards
- Mentor developers on D365 integration patterns, Azure Integration Services best practices, and debugging complex multi-system data flows
- Serve as the technical escalation point for complex or high-risk integration issues
- Lead technical design reviews and approve integration specifications before development begins
Delivery & Program Support
- Partner with the Integration Architect (if separate), D365 functional/technical leads, and the implementation partner/SI to align integration design with the overall program plan
- Translate business requirements from functional consultants and business analysts into technical integration designs and specifications
- Own delivery timelines for the integration workstream, coordinating across developers to hit SIT, UAT, and cutover milestones
- Lead resolution of complex integration defects during SIT, UAT, and hypercare
- Lead cutover planning and execution for integration components, including data migration touchpoints
Standards, Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
- Establish monitoring, logging, and alerting standards across all integrations to proactively detect and resolve failures
- Build and maintain a library of reusable integration components/templates to accelerate current and future development
- Stay current on Microsoft's D365 and Azure Integration Services roadmap and recommend adoption of new capabilities where relevant
- Drive continuous improvement in integration performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of experience developing system integrations, including 3+ years specifically integrating with **Microsoft Dynamics 365** (F&O and/or CE), and prior experience leading or mentoring other developers
- Deep, hands-on experience architecting and building integrations using **Azure Integration Services** Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Service Bus, and API Management
- Proven experience integrating with **D365 Commerce**, including strong familiarity with **Distributed Order Management (DOM)** concepts and order orchestration
- Proven experience architecting integrations to/from **Shopify** (REST/GraphQL Admin API, webhooks, or equivalent)
- Strong proficiency with **C#/.NET** and/or **JavaScript/TypeScript** for integration and middleware development
- Deep experience with **REST and SOAP web services**, JSON/XML data formats, and API authentication patterns (OAuth 2.0, API keys, service principals)
- Strong working knowledge of D365 F&O's **Data Management Framework**, and D365 CE's **Dual-write**, **Virtual Entities**, and **Web API**
- Experience establishing CI/CD pipelines and integration coding standards (Azure DevOps preferred)
- Demonstrated experience designing integration architecture: real-time vs. batch, event-driven design, and error handling/retry strategies at scale
Preferred
- Experience architecting a **PIM system** (InRiver or comparable) integration with ERP and ecommerce platforms
- Experience leading the integration workstream on a **large-scale D365 implementation** specifically (not just steady-state support)
- Deep familiarity with **Azure Data Factory**, **Azure SQL**, or **Dataverse**
- Experience with **electronic data interchange (EDI)** standards, if relevant to the business
- Retail, distribution, CPG, or manufacturing industry background
- Microsoft Azure or Dynamics 365 certifications (e.g., PL-400, MB-500, AZ-204, AZ-305)
