Overview:
RSM is supporting MITRE in augmenting their IT organization with a network-focused resource to assist with ongoing operational demand and CMMC readiness initiatives. This role is designed to offload operational and mid-tier engineering work from MITRE s internal team, allowing focus on higher-complexity compliance and design efforts.
The resource will operate under the direction of MITRE IT and in coordination with RSM, supporting both steady-state network operations and in-flight infrastructure and security initiatives. While execution-focused, the role requires strong hands-on engineering capability within a Juniper-centric environment.
In addition to day-to-day support, the resource will assist with implementation of CMMC-driven configuration changes and contribute to ongoing initiatives, including completion of a large-scale Juniper switching refresh and continued rollout of Cisco ISE NAC capabilities.
Operational Expectations:
Execution-focused role requiring strong independent engineering capability
Work performed within MITRE-defined processes, tooling, and escalation paths
Vendor TAC leveraged for complex platform issues
Responsibilities include a mix of steady-state operations and project-based execution tied to compliance and infrastructure initiatives

Support advanced networking functions including MPLS, VRF segmentation, VLANs, routing, and access control enforcement.
Support SRX-based firewall functions within the Juniper environment as applicable.
Troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 network issues, escalating as appropriate.
Maintain documentation of configurations, changes, and operational activities.
Required Skills & Experience:
Strong hands-on experience with Juniper platforms including EX, QFX, and SRX
Deep expertise with Junos OS for configuration, troubleshooting, and operational support

Ability to independently execute configuration changes and troubleshoot issues
Experience supporting lifecycle initiatives such as hardware refresh and rollout
Ability to operate effectively in structured, compliance-driven environments
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Exposure to automation tools such as Ansible or similar frameworks
Experience with Palo Alto firewalls
Experience with Cisco ISE or NAC solutions
Experience supporting environments aligned to CMMC, NIST 800-171, or similar frameworks
Prior experience in government or government-adjacent environments
