Role: Software ABAP Development Architect

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced SAP Development Lead with a core focus on SAP Integrated Production Operations (IPO) functions and related manufacturing, supply chain, and logistics execution modules. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex requirements and technical software delivery. You will lead a team of technical developers, guide technical architecture decisions, and ensure seamless integration between SAP S/4HANA, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and plant-floor automation tools.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Delivery: Lead the end-to-end design, development, testing, and deployment of custom enhancements, reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, and forms (RICEFW) focused on Integrated Production Operations functions and modules. Review code and documentation quality.
Architecture & Governance: Enforce SAP "Clean Core" guidelines, cloud integration standards, and code quality benchmarks to guarantee system upgradeability and long-term stability.
Module Integration: Coordinate cross-module technical and functional integration between PP, MM (Materials Management), QM (Quality Management), PM (Plant Maintenance), EWM, TM (Transportation Management), GTS (Global Trade Services), MRP, ePPDS, ESH/PCCM, etc.
Shop-Floor & External System Connectivity: Oversee integrations with external Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), SCADA, and IoT devices, ensuring stable data flow and real-time operational reporting.
Team Mentorship: Direct, mentor, and upskill a multi-shore team of ABAP, BTP (Business Technology Platform), and Fiori developers.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with business process owners, functional analysts, and SAP Basis/Infrastructure teams to troubleshoot production issues and navigate challenging design concepts.
Documentation: Review and ensure quality of Technical Specifications, produce architecture documentation, and support test frameworks to support release management and deployment cycles.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience: Hands-on experience in SAP technical development landscapes, including at least 3+ years in a formal team lead or technical architect role.
Domain Knowledge: Strong technical and problem-solving skills in assisting development team with technical challenges across numerous complex products including but not limited to: ESH/PCCM, SFI, MRP, Tooling, GTS, WM/IM, eWM, PPDS, CSO, TM, MS/DM, PLMSI • Technical Stack: Proficiency in ABAP / RAP, SAP Fiori/UI5, CDS views, OData services, and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) integration suites. Experience with DDIC Governance, Package creation, OSS Notes.
Integration Expertise: Strong working knowledge of IDocs, RFCs, APIs, and middleware coordination for manufacturing execution tracking.
Methodology: Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery frameworks (e.g. SAFe), utilizing ticketing systems like ServiceNow & JIRA, and managing transport management governance.
Preferred Qualifications
Aerospace & Defense industry experience preferred, but not required.
