Title: Sr SW Test Development Engineer - (Remote)
Duration: 12 months with possible extension and full-time conversion
Location: San Diego, CA (Remote)
Ocasional office visits required only for hardware pickup and meetings in San Diego, CA preferred; open to strong candidates outside San Diego,CA

Role Overview
- Position supports the Firmware team with a strong focus on test automation and hands-on programming.
- Primary programming languages are Java and C# (.NET).
- Candidates with Python and strong OOP programming experience can also be considered if they are hands-on and strong in programming.
- Candidates can work primarily in the language they are most experienced and comfortable with.
Day to Day Responsibilities
- Execute existing test cases and develop/modify test interfaces for new or modified firmware features to validate next-generation CGM transmitters.
- Create test plans, test reports, traceability matrices, and other required documentation for test projects in an FDA-regulated quality environment.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks and resolve roadblocks.
- Understand and apply principles of low-power systems design and implementation.
- Design, implement, and test new products, as well as improve existing products.
- Identify and implement engineering and quality process improvements.
- Work with analog and digital hardware interfaces and software operating systems.
- Contribute to improving Dexcom’s gross margin through design enhancements.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Debug test failures and issues — this will be a major part of the role.
- Modify and maintain existing automation test cases.
- Develop new automated test cases.
- Approximately 20% of the role involves writing new test cases.
- Remaining time will primarily involve executing, debugging, and modifying existing automation.
- Work requires interaction with hardware.
Technical Environment:
- They are using Java (with IntelliJ or Eclipse) and C#/.NET for test case automation. But Candidates can work primarily in the language they are most experienced and comfortable with.
Required Skills :
- 5–8 years of experience
- Java – 5 years
- Object-Oriented Programming – 5 years
- Hands on Firmware or Hardware testing – 2 years minimum
- Strong hands-on programming experience
- Solid OOP concepts and practical experience
- Strong debugging/troubleshooting skills
- Experience with test automation
- Ability to develop, execute, modify, and debug automated test cases
Preferred Skills
- C#
- Bluetooth/BLE experience
- Embedded Software Development or Testing
- Bluetooth experience is somewhere important but not mandatory
Education Requirements:
- Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree
Software Skills Required:
- Programming with Java, Testing, Test Automation, Test Development
Interview
- 2 Rounds of Interviews, 3rd round possible depending on the candidate/process.
- Combination interview -Web Conference (Zoom/ TEAMs)
- 1st round - Hiring Manager
- 2nd round - 2-4 additional Engineers for technical interview
