RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Austin, TX that is seeking a Product Planner to join their lifecycle management team focused on Operating Systems. This role is ideal for an early-career professional with an interest in product planning, technology strategy, and operating systems. The successful candidate will help drive operating system planning and lifecycle management across desktop and workstation platforms, working closely with cross-functional teams to support product roadmap initiatives and long-term platform strategy. This is a planning and product management role and is not a software development position.
Responsibilities:
* Support operating system roadmap planning and lifecycle management activities across desktop and workstation environments
* Assist with planning Windows operating system updates and lifecycle requirements for supported platforms
* Contribute to operating system strategy discussions involving Linux distributions such as Red Hat, Ubuntu, and SUSE
* Help evaluate operating system options based on customer needs, industry requirements, and intended platform use cases
* Participate in platform sustainment activities and support operating systems through end-of-life transitions
* Research and recommend operating system solutions for various workstation and desktop environments
* Collaborate with engineering, product management, and business stakeholders on roadmap and lifecycle decisions
* Help communicate platform plans, recommendations, and lifecycle impacts to internal partners
* Support product planning efforts across desktop, mobile workstation, and related platform portfolios
* Maintain documentation and planning materials related to operating system strategy and lifecycle management
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field
* Understanding of Windows operating systems and general software lifecycle concepts
* Foundational knowledge of Linux operating systems such as Red Hat, Ubuntu, or SUSE
* Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
* Internship, co-op, academic project, or early professional experience related to product management, product planning, technology strategy, IT systems, or platform management
* Familiarity with operating system deployment, support, or lifecycle management concepts
* Exposure to workstation, desktop, or enterprise IT environments
* Experience gathering requirements and translating business needs into recommendations or plans

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
