Role: Migrations Engineer Compute and Databases (Solutions Engineering) (Senior)
Location: US (Remote)
Duration: 12 Months +
Position Overview
The customer is launching a major enterprise-wide initiative to migrate and modernize their complex, legacy on-premises application portfolio to Amazon Web Services (AWS).
In this role, you will be embedded directly as a dedicated, architecture guidance and hands-on cloud expert within specific application development teams. You will provide end-to-end technical guidance of migrating highly complex, high-throughput financial applications from on-premises data centers to AWS.
The ideal candidate has over 10 years of deep technical experience, a proven track record of executing complex cloud migrations, strong architectural knowledge, and hands-on mastery of Infrastructure as Code (laC) and AWS services.
Key Responsibilities
1. Embedded Migration Execution
- Application Assessment: Partner with your assigned application development team to analyze legacy architectures, map dependencies, and determine the optimal migration path (Rehost, Replatform, or Refactor).
- Hands-on Migration: Execute the technical migration of complex workloads, databases, and data flows from on-premises environments to AWS, ensuring minimal downtime and zero data loss.
- Cutover & Validation: Lead technical cutover planning, execute migration waves, and perform post-migration validation and performance tuning.
2. Cloud Architecture & Design
- Target State Architecture: Design secure, resilient, and highly available AWS target architectures tailored to the specific performance and latency requirements of financial applications.
- Integration & Hybrid Cloud: Design and implement secure connectivity between migrated cloud workloads and remaining on-premises systems or shared enterprise services.
- Disaster Recovery: Implement robust multi-region or multi-AZ backup, recovery, and business continuity patterns.
3. Infrastructure as Code (laC) & Automation
- Declarative Infrastructure: Write, test, and maintain modular, reusable Infrastructure as Code (laC) templates using Terraform to provision all application infrastructure.
- CI/CD Integration: Build and integrate automated deployment pipelines (using GitLab Cl, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline) to establish fully automated, auditable deployment workflows.
- Automation Scripting: Develop automation scripts (Python, Bash, or Go) to streamline migration tasks, data validation, and operational runbooks.
4. Security, Compliance & Governance
