RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Technical Knowledge Management Specialist in New York, NY.
Summary:
The Knowledge Management Specialist is responsible for organizing, documenting, maintaining, and improving enterprise knowledge across technical and business teams. This role works closely with subject matter experts, application owners, and IT teams to ensure critical information is accurate, accessible, well-structured, and governed throughout its lifecycle. The ideal candidate combines strong knowledge management and technical documentation skills with the ability to work across multiple technology teams and collaboration platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct knowledge discovery sessions with technical teams, application owners, and subject matter experts
* Assess existing documentation for completeness, accuracy, ownership, duplication, and currency
* Identify documentation gaps and work with SMEs to develop or update required content
* Create and maintain structured application, technical, operational, and support documentation
* Organize and rationalize content across enterprise knowledge repositories
* Support content migration, consolidation, linking, and archival activities
* Maintain application registry information, metadata, ownership, and documentation links
* Apply established taxonomy, naming, metadata, and content governance standards
* Identify duplicate, outdated, orphaned, or conflicting content and coordinate remediation
* Perform documentation quality reviews and track knowledge-management health metrics
* Develop and maintain knowledge articles, runbooks, playbooks, procedures, and related materials
* Support training and knowledge transfer to technical and business teams
* Participate in structured documentation and knowledge-management workstreams
REQUIREMENTS:
* Experience in knowledge management, technical documentation, information management, content management, or a related discipline
* Experience gathering technical information from SMEs and translating it into clear, structured documentation
* Familiarity with enterprise collaboration and knowledge platforms such as SharePoint and Confluence
* Familiarity with tools such as Jira, GitHub, OneDrive, or similar platforms
* Understanding of taxonomy, metadata, document lifecycle management, version control, and content governance
* Strong written communication, interviewing, facilitation, and organizational skills
* Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple documentation activities simultaneously
* Ability to work effectively with application development, infrastructure, architecture, engineering, operations, and project management teams
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience supporting enterprise knowledge-management or documentation initiatives
* Experience with application inventories, application registries, CMDBs, or similar systems
* Experience with content migration or repository consolidation
* Experience developing technical runbooks, operational procedures, and support documentation
* Experience working in large, complex, or highly governed enterprise environments
* Familiarity with Agile or sprint-based delivery methods

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
