Job Title: Senior CX / Experience Design Specialist R&D Knowledge Management and Integrated Evidence Planning
Location: Partial Remote (Expenses Paid)
Type: Contract role
Job Requirements:
Senior CX / Experience Design Specialist R&D Knowledge Management and Integrated Evidence Planning
Function: R&D Digital / IT, Life Sciences
Role overview:
- We are seeking an experienced CX / experience design specialist to help shape digital capabilities supporting integrated evidence planning at the interface of Medical Affairs and Clinical Development.
- The role will focus on how users move from document-based information to connected, reusable knowledge that supports evidence planning, identification of evidence gaps, and scenario modeling.
- This requires a specialist who can understand complex scientific workflows and translate them into intuitive digital experiences, clear information structures, and actionable requirements.
- The successful candidate will partner with medical, clinical, and technology stakeholders to define how information is captured, organized, discovered, interpreted, and applied across the evidence-planning lifecycle.
Key responsibilities:
Lead user research with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, and related stakeholders to understand their information needs, planning processes, decision points, and pain points.
Map current and future user journeys across integrated evidence planning, including where medical and clinical teams exchange information and make joint decisions.
Design experiences that transform information held in documents into structured, searchable, connected knowledge that users can reuse across planning activities.
Define information architecture, navigation, taxonomy, metadata, and content relationships in partnership with scientific subject matter experts and knowledge management teams.
Develop concepts, wireframes, and interactive prototypes for knowledge discovery, evidence-gap assessment, collaborative planning, and scenario comparison.
Help define scenario-modeling workflows that enable users to explore alternative evidence-generation approaches, understand assumptions, and compare potential implications.
Translate research findings into prioritized use cases, product requirements, and experience-design recommendations for R&D Digital / IT teams.
Partner with product owners, architects, data specialists, and engineering teams to ensure the proposed experience is practical to implement and aligned with business needs.
Incorporate source traceability, content ownership, versioning, access controls, and appropriate review workflows into the experience.
Validate designs with users and establish measures of usability, adoption, information findability, and planning efficiency.
Required experience and capabilities
Substantial experience in CX, UX, service design, or digital product design for complex enterprise workflows.
Experience within life sciences R&D, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, or a closely related scientific environment.
Strong understanding of content and knowledge management, including the distinction between storing documents and making their information usable as connected knowledge.
Demonstrated ability to conduct stakeholder interviews, facilitate workshops, map workflows, and turn ambiguous needs into clear design direction.
Expertise in information architecture and the design of search, discovery, and knowledge-navigation experiences.
Experience designing decision-support or planning tools involving multiple information sources, assumptions, and scenarios.
Ability to communicate effectively with scientific and business leaders while collaborating closely with technical delivery teams.
A portfolio demonstrating relevant research, experience design, prototyping, and measurable outcomes.
Preferred experience:
Direct exposure to integrated evidence planning or collaboration between Medical Affairs and Clinical Development.
Experience with evidence-generation planning, scientific content, literature, clinical study information, or real-world evidence.
Familiarity with AI-enabled knowledge discovery, information extraction, semantic search, or knowledge graphs.
Experience designing workflows that allow users to assess the reliability, provenance, and limitations of AI-generated outputs.
Experience supporting adoption and organizational change for enterprise digital capabilities.
Expected initial deliverables:
Stakeholder and user-needs assessment.
Current-state workflow and pain-point map.
Future-state experience blueprint for integrated evidence planning.
Proposed information architecture and knowledge-content structure.
Prioritized use cases and prototypes for knowledge discovery and scenario modeling.
Implementation recommendations and success measures.
Profiles requested:
- Please provide profiles of senior practitioners who combine strong experience-design expertise with life sciences domain knowledge and content / knowledge management experience.
- Candidates should be able to lead discovery and design independently, engage credibly with medical and clinical stakeholders, and demonstrate how they have made complex scientific information easier to find, connect, and use in decision-making.
