Job#: 3055061 Job Description: UI/UX DeveloperOnsite 1-3 daysPosition Overview- San Antonio Energy Company is seeking a tech-savvy UI/UX Developer/Programmer to help drive and advance next-generation modern digital workplace UI/UX initiatives.
- This individual will serve as a hands-on designer/developer and Subject Matter Expert (SME), working directly with business and technology users to develop holistic solutions for high-visibility projects.
- The role is heavily focused on front-end development, with responsibility for creating mobile and web experiences and interfaces. The ideal candidate should be comfortable moving between UX/UI design and hands-on front-end programming. Experience working alongside full-stack application development teams is a plus.
Key ResponsibilitiesFront-End Development- Research, design, develop, test, build, and integrate front-end/UX designs into JavaScript and Java codebases.
- Perform hands-on development using front-end frameworks such as:
- Vue.js
- AngularJS
- React.js
- jQuery
- Develop reusable, responsive, and interactive UI patterns and code libraries.
- Create clean, semantic HTML and high-quality JavaScript/CSS following W3 and industry standards.
- Develop responsive websites and web applications.
- Write well-structured, maintainable code following development best practices.
- Ensure designs are technically feasible and successfully translated into production applications.
- Address cross-browser compatibility issues.
UI/UX & Design- Function as both a designer and developer, shifting between UI/UX design and hands-on development as needed.
- Design and maintain:
- Wireframes
- Mock-ups
- Design files
- UI prototypes
- Create conceptual and detailed design solutions based on end-user needs.
- Participate in product UX strategy, conceptualization, and prioritization.
- Conduct or assist with usability reviews and UI testing.
- Validate UI/UX concepts using a data-driven approach.
- Apply Human-Centered Design (HCD) techniques across design, research, and usability.
Accessibility & Design Systems- Develop semantic HTML that meets WCAG and ADA/Section 508 accessibility standards.
- Support CPS Energy's customer-facing design system.
- Develop and maintain:
- New UI components
- Page templates
- Accessibility enhancements
- Defect fixes
- Help ensure UI/UX interfaces meet established accessibility and design standards.
Collaboration & SME Responsibilities- Serve as a UI/UX Subject Matter Expert supporting decision-making on high-visibility projects.
- Collaborate with:
- Business analysts
- Developers
- Senior developers
- Architects
- Business users
- Technology users
- Work within established SDLC and Agile/Scrum processes.
- Translate business and end-user needs into holistic technology solutions.
- Stay current on UI frameworks, design trends, and programming techniques.
- Research and recommend new tools, frameworks, and development methods when appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications- Candidates should have:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Deep hands-on experience in front-end web application development and programming.
- Experience creating conceptual and detailed UI/UX design solutions based on end-user needs.
- Knowledge of design/storyboarding tools such as:
- Adobe Creative Suite
- Sketch
- InVision
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Experience communicating and collaborating with both business and technology stakeholders.
- Experience with end-to-end Human-Centered Design (HCD) practices, including:
Preferred Qualifications- UI/UX design or web development certifications/training.
- Previous electric and/or gas utility industry experience.
- Bachelor's degree in:
- Computer Science
- Information Systems
- Applicable business discipline OR equivalent/relevant business and technical experience.
- Experience/exposure to:
- Vue.js
- AngularJS
- React.js
- jQuery
- Familiarity with screen-reader/accessibility tools such as:
- Experience working within Agile ceremonies and methodologies.
