About the roleAs a
Backend Engineer on Data Ingestion, you'll work on the systems that bring captured activity into Scribe: receiving, batching, storing and handing it on to the AI pipeline, at the scale of hundreds of thousands of users and growing. The work is backend and infrastructure: throughput, reliability and cost.
What you'll do- Build projects from design to launch, on established products and new ones.
- Collaborate with PMs, designers and other engineers to execute the build and how.
- Contribute to technical discussions, balancing short-term delivery with long-term architecture.
- Uphold strong engineering practices: code review, test coverage and observability.
- Build and operate high-throughput backend services and the queues and storage behind them.
- Improve the performance and reliability of services, database queries, endpoints and caching across critical workflows.
- Take part in the on-call rotation for the systems you build
What we're looking for- 2+ years building experience building backend applications
- Product-minded. You care about the user problem as much as the code
- Comfortable with unclear problems and fast change
- Strong Python or Go experience, or experience in another backend language and willingness to work across Python and Go
- Familiar with queues, object storage, and relational or time-series databases
- Has debugged a production problem from metrics and logs
- User-centric, empathetic, and passionate about your work
- Nice to have: AI/LLM product experience, startup experience
Why you'll love working here- Hard, open problems. Nobody hands you a finished spec. You'll decide what to build with your PM and designer, then own how it performs.
- The reach of a unicorn, the headcount of a startup. We went from $1M to $100M ARR in under four years, with fewer than 200 people. That means more pie than people: scope grows with your impact. Customers like T-Mobile, LinkedIn, HubSpot, New York Life and Northern Trust run on Scribe, so what you own reaches some of the biggest names in business.
- Smart is the floor. Kind is the bar. Low ego, high standards. We compete as a collective and love to see each other win, and One Team, One Dream is one of the most shouted-out values in #values.
