Job Title: Data Warehouse Analyst / Power BI Report Builder
Location: Tallahassee, FL (Onsite)
Position Overview:
Client is seeking an experienced Data Warehouse Analyst / Power BI Report Builder with strong expertise in Microsoft Power BI, Power BI Report Builder, DAX, SQL, Snowflake, and dimensional data modeling.
The successful candidate will design and optimize Power BI semantic models, dashboards, analytical reports, and dataflows using Snowflake as a primary data source. This role requires strong hands-on experience with enterprise reporting, advanced DAX, complex SQL, Snowflake performance tuning, and dimensional modeling.
The candidate will work closely with data engineers, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts to develop reliable, scalable, and high-performance reporting solutions.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 8+ years of IT experience working with business intelligence tools and systems.
- 5 7+ years of hands-on Microsoft Power BI experience developing enterprise-level reports, dashboards, semantic models, and analytical solutions.
Strong experience with:
- Power BI
- Power BI Report Builder
- Advanced DAX
- Power Query
- Power BI semantic models
- Paginated Reports
- Power BI performance tuning
Advanced SQL skills, including:
- CTEs
- Window functions
- Analytical queries
- Query optimization
- Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, fact/dimension tables, and star schema design.
Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, including:
- Performance tuning
- Clustering keys
- Compute optimization
- Warehouse sizing
- Cost optimization
- RBAC and roles
- Data governance
- Experience integrating Power BI with Snowflake using appropriate connection modes.
- Experience with Power BI workspace management and report performance optimization.
- Experience with metadata management, data lineage, and technical documentation.
- Experience embedding Power BI reports into web or internal applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Power BI CI/CD processes.
- Experience with version control for Power BI solutions.
- Experience working with enterprise data engineering teams.
- Experience in a government or large enterprise environment is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop Power BI dataflows and semantic models using dimensional modeling and star-schema principles.
- Build advanced DAX measures, calculations, and analytical logic for enterprise reporting.
- Develop user-friendly, scalable, and high-performance Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Create and optimize complex SQL queries against Snowflake.
- Work with Snowflake data engineering teams to ensure fact and dimension tables are optimized for Power BI consumption.
- Integrate Power BI with Snowflake using appropriate connection modes while ensuring query performance, query folding, and data reliability.
- Troubleshoot performance issues across Power BI, DAX, SQL, and Snowflake compute layers.
- Maintain metadata, data lineage, report specifications, and other technical documentation.
- Translate business requirements into effective semantic models, reports, and analytical solutions.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, SMEs, data engineers, and other technical teams.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while managing priorities and meeting deadlines.
