Job Title: Data Science / Data Engineering Support Engineer
Role Type: 6 + months contract – good possibility of extensions and/or perm rollover
Location: Washington, DC (5 Days a week onsite)

We are seeking a Data Scientist / Data Engineer to support data science and engineering tools, platforms, and infrastructure. This is a technical support and troubleshooting role—not a software development or data science SME position. The ideal candidate understands how data science and engineering tools are used, can troubleshoot issues across the environment, and can work effectively with data, infrastructure, and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and troubleshoot data science, data engineering, and analytics tools and platforms.
- Troubleshoot data processing, analytical workflows, applications, and infrastructure issues.
- Support Linux-based environments and assist with configuration, connectivity, performance, and environment-related issues.
- Work with data scientists, engineers, and infrastructure teams to identify and resolve technical issues.
- Support tools such as Databricks, RStudio, and comparable data platforms; specific tool experience is transferable.
- Apply working knowledge of data science and data engineering concepts to diagnose and resolve issues.
- Assist with data pipelines, processing workflows, and cloud-based data environments.
- Document issues, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions.
- Escalate complex application or infrastructure issues when appropriate.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, IT, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience supporting or working with data science, data engineering, analytics, or related technical environments.
- Linux experience required.
- Working knowledge of data science/data engineering concepts and workflows.
- Familiarity with R/RStudio, Databricks, or comparable tools.
- Cloud experience (AWS or Azure) preferred.
- Basic knowledge of SQL, Python, or similar data technologies is helpful; extensive coding/programming is not required.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to understand technical documentation, logs, configurations, and system behavior.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without future sponsorship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance.
