Senior Network Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking a
Senior Network Engineer to support a high-visibility federal customer and its mission-critical enterprise network environment. This position requires an experienced network professional who can design, implement, secure, troubleshoot, and modernize complex network infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with enterprise LAN and WAN environments, advanced Cisco networking expertise, and a current
Cisco Certified Network Professional certification. The engineer will work directly with technical stakeholders and customer leadership to translate operational requirements into reliable, secure, and scalable network solutions.
Successful candidates will be detail-oriented, highly accountable, and comfortable responding to emerging technical challenges in a mission-focused environment. This role requires the ability to work independently, collaborate across technical teams, and quickly learn new technologies, products, and processes.
Responsibilities
• Translate customer and technical requirements into network designs, modifications, reconfigurations, and technology upgrades
• Design, deploy, configure, and optimize business-critical enterprise network environments
• Provide senior-level network engineering support for current and future enterprise and tactical network requirements
• Develop network architectures, implementation plans, configuration standards, and technical documentation
• Provide Tier 3 and Tier 4 troubleshooting and engineering support across routers, switches, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, controllers, and related network technologies
• Analyze network topologies, traffic patterns, performance, scalability, and capacity requirements
• Plan network layouts and configure systems based on customer, security, and operational requirements
• Investigate and evaluate new networking technologies to modernize and improve existing solutions
• Apply current and emerging network hardware, software, protocols, and security technologies to solve complex engineering challenges
• Support network hardware and software acquisitions, installation, integration, testing, and lifecycle management
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including standard operating procedures, implementation guides, configuration checklists, diagrams, and troubleshooting procedures
• Provide technical guidance and leadership to junior and mid-level network personnel
• Serve as a technical lead for assigned projects, engineering efforts, or operational tasks
• Communicate technical findings, risks, recommendations, and solutions to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders
• Maintain knowledge of relevant networking technologies, cybersecurity requirements, and industry best practices
Required Qualifications
• Active
Top Secret clearance with SCI access or current SCI eligibility• Current
Cisco Certified Network Professional certification• Current DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification or higher, such as Security+ CE, GSEC, SSCP, GICSP, or another qualifying certification
• At least 10 years of professional information technology experience
• At least 10 years of hands-on experience supporting network infrastructure, network security, and LAN and WAN environments
• Advanced experience designing, implementing, administering, and troubleshooting enterprise network infrastructure
• Hands-on experience with routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, wireless controllers, and related network devices
• Strong knowledge of network infrastructure protocols, application transport, routing, switching, segmentation, redundancy, and network security concepts
• Experience supporting complex network environments using technologies from Cisco and one or more additional vendors, such as Fortinet, Arista, Aruba, or Palo Alto Networks
• Experience developing technical checklists, standard operating procedures, implementation guides, network diagrams, and related engineering documentation
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and perform root cause analysis
• Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar technologies and products using technical documentation and other approved resources
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and operate effectively within established technical and security guidelines
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Ability to travel up to 10 percent
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline
• Experience supporting high-visibility or mission-critical federal network environments
• Experience serving as a technical lead or senior escalation point for enterprise networking teams
• Experience with network modernization, technology refresh, infrastructure migration, or large-scale network upgrade initiatives
• Experience working directly with government stakeholders and executive-level customers

Clearance Requirement
- This position requires an active Top Secret clearance with SCI access or current eligibility for SCI access. Applicants must be able to satisfy all customer security and access requirements.
