It was the general tackiness of the original that kept me from seeing the 2001 re-make, though usually I'm a sucker for Tim Burton movies. So, when the prequel Rise of the Planet of the Apes came out not long ago, I figured I'd skip it and watch my Battlestar Gallactica DVDs instead. I may rethink that now.
