Fiserv, a Brookfield, Wisc.-based financial solutions provider, is hiring for more than 350 full-time technical jobs. The roles are in business analysis, client services, UI, security, mobile solutions, QA, application development, network engineering, and project and general technical management, according to Victor P. Gaines II, vice president for talent acquisition. IT hires have a range of experience, from interns to highly experienced leaders. Last year, the company hired more than 1,300 professionals for technical jobs.
While relevant industry experience never hurts, IT professionals typically only need to have financial services experience if a job requires working knowledge of a related solution or platform. As for culture, that depends on the role and the office location. “While there is a uniquely innovative culture across all of Fiserv, each associate’s experience will vary, depending on whether you’re located in Sunnyvale, Atlanta, India or New Zealand, and whether you’re supporting mobile or online banking solutions, electronic billing and payments, person-to-person payment products or established ATM solutions,” says Gaines.
How They Hire
The hiring process also varies by location, group and sometimes by hiring manager, too. It all depends on the required and desired combination of skills and competencies. “The process typically involves several steps, each dependent on the success of the last,” says Gaines. “For example, if contacted by one of our talent sourcers, there may be a follow-up call with them, and then a series of one to three interviews with the hiring manager and the hiring team.” In-person technical interviews might consist of one-on-one or panel interviews, and often include opportunities for candidates to demonstrate their domain expertise during a variety of interactive forums, including whiteboard sessions and/or written and verbal assessment tools. Gaines suggests prospective hires monitor its website and also follow its activity on social media. “Our recruiters are also out there, looking for you,” he says. But don’t be discouraged from contacting Fiserv on your own. “We invite talented people to engage with us directly,” says Gaines. Fiserv employs more than 20,000 associates, with approximately 16,000 in the U.S. Some of the larger domestic locations -- with more than 700 associates -- include Atlanta, Dallas, Brookfield, Lake Mary, Fla., Lincoln, Neb., Glastonbury, Conn., Morris Plains, N.J., King of Prussia, Pa., Hillsboro, Ore., and Sunnyvale, Calif. Fiserv has about 14,500 clients in more than 80 countries around the world, and manages 24 billion digital payment transactions each year. “We move more than $1 trillion annually,” says Gaines.
