Orange San Diego Just a month ago Lava Xolo X900 smartphone was the first ever Intel  Atom-powered smartphone. The phone debuted in India for $420 and Intel, at the time, hoped to expand its smartphone presence in the U.S. or Europe. Well, the chip giant lucked out. Orange UK announced its Intel-based San Diego smartphone will hit the market on Wednesday. It'll be the first European Intel smartphone and feature the Intel Atom processor Z2460 Medfield 1.6GHz and support HSPA+. San Diego's other features include an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash, Bluetooth 2.1, microUSB, HDMI ports and GPS. The phone has 16 GB of internal memory and, surprisingly, no microSD card slot. If you expected to see this phone running an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, you'll have to wait a little more because it comes with Android 2.3.7. It's the same old fragmentation problem. Maybe Orange will update the phone with the next version of Android sometime this month. The Google I/O conference would be a good time to do it.
