You've connected the Dice MCP Server to your AI assistant. Now what?
Brainstorm the kind of role you are looking for. Give the AI your resume and have it search the Dice database for you. Talk to it like you'd talk to a friend who knows tech jobs. The MCP Server plugs Dice's tech-only database directly into your AI so you can skip all the keyword gymnastics and guessing which exact phrase will surface the right roles. It really is that simple!
In this article we collected ready-to-use prompts across three categories: basic job searches, negative filtering, and recurring searches that run on autopilot. These examples show what's possible, but keep in mind that they're just a starting point. Once you see how it works, you should use prompts that are tailored to your own job search.

Job Search Basics
Start here. These prompts get you exploring roles, locations, and job types without perfect phrasing.
"Find software engineering jobs in Austin, Texas"
"Show me remote full-time data analyst positions posted in the last week that offer visa sponsorship"
"What senior frontend developer roles are available in the Bay Area within 20 miles that support hybrid work and were posted in the last three days?"
"Find principal DevOps engineer jobs in Seattle with easy apply options, posted in the last week, that offer visa sponsorship and don't require security clearance"
"Show me staff-level machine learning engineer positions in Boston within a 25-mile radius that are full-time, support remote work, offer visa sponsorship, were posted in the last three days, and include roles from direct employers only"
Filtering Out What You Don't Want
The Dice MCP server and LLM combo really shines when it gives you the ability to search in ways a keyword function would never allow. In this case you can exclude what you're not interested in—on-call rotations, specific technologies, recruiter posts, anything that doesn't fit.
"Find backend developer jobs in Denver that don't require on-call"
"Show me senior Python roles in New York within 30 miles that aren't contract positions, don't require Java, support remote work, and were posted in the last week"
"Find full-time software engineering jobs in the Bay Area that don't involve C++, aren't from third-party recruiters, support hybrid work, and offer visa sponsorship"
"Show me principal engineer roles in Chicago within 15 miles that aren't contract positions, don't require on-call rotations, don't involve legacy PHP codebases, were posted in the last three days, and include easy apply options"
"Find staff-level data engineering positions in Austin within 20 miles that are full-time, support remote work, offer visa sponsorship, don't require experience with Hadoop or Spark, don't involve on-call, aren't from third-party recruiters, and were posted in the last week"
Automations
Yep. This is what we are most excited about. Check for new roles every morning without any manual work. Set up recurring searches that monitor the market for you. Refine the criteria, adjust the frequency, or build your own automated workflows if you're comfortable with that level of customization.
"Check for new senior backend roles in San Francisco every morning"
"Notify me when remote machine learning engineer jobs are posted that offer visa sponsorship, are full-time positions, support hybrid work options, and were posted in the last 24 hours"
"Monitor for principal cloud architect positions in the Mountain time zone within 50 miles that are full-time, don't require on-call, offer visa sponsorship, and include easy apply—check daily"
"Set up a recurring search for staff frontend developer roles in Portland within 25 miles that don't require Angular, support remote or hybrid work, aren't from third-party recruiters, were posted in the last 24 hours, and offer visa sponsorship—run it every morning at 8 AM"
"Create a daily monitor for senior DevOps engineer positions within 30 miles of Denver that support hybrid work arrangements, are full-time roles from direct employers only, don't involve on-call rotations, offer visa sponsorship, include easy apply options, were posted in the last three days, and don't require Kubernetes experience—alert me every morning"
Okay, now go try it!
These prompts are just examples. The real power comes from describing exactly what you want—your ideal location, your deal-breakers, the technologies you're excited about, the work arrangements that matter.
The AI and our MCP server handle the translation. You just have to ask.
