There are whispers that Nintendo's going to cut the price of its Wii to $150 on May 15. Engadget says a "trusted source" is behind the news, though it notes the timing is kind of weird given that E3 kicks off just three weeks later.

Since Microsoft plans to make a big deal of new Kinect offerings at the show -- with games that will "take the technology to a new level" -- it doesn't make sense that Nintendo would surrender coverage during the big week, unless it likes the idea of having the news to itself for a while. Nah. Maybe it's clearing out the warehouse ahead of launching something new? Just a thought. Either way, the notion of a Wii for $150 is kind of cool.
