Senior Drupal Developer
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Drupal Developer who can quickly join an active development environment and contribute with minimal ramp-up time. This role requires strong hands-on Drupal development experience, with particular emphasis on the Drupal theme layer and front-end development.
The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in Drupal, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS and comfortable working within an established development team and codebase. Much of the work will involve developing, enhancing, and maintaining Drupal themes and user-facing functionality.
Experience with Tailwind CSS and the use of AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and maintain Drupal-based websites and applications.
- Perform significant development within the Drupal theme layer, including creation and customization of themes, templates, and front-end components.
- Build responsive and accessible user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Develop and modify Drupal functionality using PHP and Drupal APIs.
- Work with Twig templates, Drupal render arrays, preprocess functions, and other Drupal theming technologies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application, theme, and front-end issues.
- Work within established source-control and development processes using Git/GitHub.
- Collaborate with developers, technical leads, designers, and other team members to implement application enhancements.
- Leverage modern development tools, including AI-assisted coding tools, where appropriate to improve development efficiency and code quality.
Required Experience
- Strong professional experience developing solutions using Drupal.
- Advanced experience with the Drupal theme layer and Drupal theming.
- Strong hands-on development skills with:
- PHP
- JavaScript
- HTML5
- CSS3
- Experience working with Twig templates and Drupal's front-end architecture.
- Ability to quickly understand an existing Drupal application and begin contributing with limited ramp-up time.
- Experience using Git/GitHub in a collaborative development environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a development team.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Tailwind CSS.
- Experience using GitHub Copilot or other AI-assisted software development tools.
- Experience working with modern front-end development practices within Drupal.
- Experience developing responsive and accessible web applications.
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be a senior-level Drupal developer who is comfortable working deep within the Drupal theme layer and can immediately contribute to an established development effort. Candidates whose Drupal experience has been primarily administrative, content-management, or configuration-focused without significant hands-on development and theming experience are unlikely to be a fit for this role.
