Job Title: Data Center Project Manager
Location: Allen, TX – Hybrid (3 Days Onsite)
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Project Manager to lead the end-to-end delivery of complex data center infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in data center design, build-out, and operational infrastructure, including SAN/Storage, Servers, Networking, power, cooling, and physical security.
This role will manage projects from planning and design through implementation, commissioning, and operational handoff. Occasional weekend work may be required and will be accommodated through schedule adjustments.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership
- Lead planning, execution, and delivery of data center deployment projects, including greenfield builds and large-scale retrofits.
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Manage project risks, dependencies, milestones, and overall delivery.
Technical Oversight
- Interpret Visio drawings, blueprints, and infrastructure designs.
- Oversee installation, configuration, and testing of network equipment, switches, routers, and structured cabling.
- Manage rack & stack activities while optimizing layouts for airflow, accessibility, and scalability.
- Coordinate lab build-outs and integration with production environments.
Infrastructure & Facilities
- Partner with facilities teams on power provisioning, PDU balancing, cooling, and thermal management.
- Ensure environmental controls and physical access/security systems are maintained during deployments.
- Support infrastructure capacity planning and scalability initiatives.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal teams, vendors, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Communicate project status, risks, issues, and dependencies to leadership.
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, SLAs, and project timelines.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure projects comply with applicable industry standards, safety requirements, and company policies.
- Support compliance requirements such as Uptime Institute, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and HIPAA.
- Conduct post-project reviews and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate runbooks, SOPs, project documentation, and operational readiness materials.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience managing data center builds, rack & stack projects, or large-scale infrastructure retrofits.
- Strong knowledge of data center design, including power distribution, cooling, physical security, networking, and storage.
- Proficiency with Visio or similar infrastructure design tools.
- Experience with BMS (Building Management Systems) and DCIM platforms.
- Strong understanding of structured cabling standards, including TIA/EIA, fiber, and copper.
- Exposure to AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and hybrid data center environments.
- Knowledge of capacity planning, scalability, risk assessment, and mitigation.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams across IT, facilities, security, networking, and external vendors.
- Strong vendor negotiation, contract management, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Familiarity with Agile or hybrid project management methodologies.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP, CAPM, or related project management certification.
- Technical certifications in data center infrastructure or networking.
- Experience with Uptime Institute Tier classifications, ISO standards, SOC 2, or HIPAA.
- Experience managing complex, large-scale data center infrastructure deployments.
