We are seeking an experienced
SAP S/4HANA ABAP Technical Lead to support a large-scale brownfield S/4HANA transformation. This role combines hands-on ABAP development and remediation with technical leadership, making it ideal for someone who can lead the work while remaining actively involved in the code.
You'll organize and drive the technical effort, guide development activities, and serve as a key technical point of contact with customer stakeholders throughout the transformation.
Key Responsibilities - Lead the ABAP technical workstream for a brownfield SAP S/4HANA implementation.
- Perform hands-on ABAP development, code remediation, and technical troubleshooting.
- Assess existing custom code and support remediation required for S/4HANA compatibility.
- Plan, organize, prioritize, and track technical development activities and deliverables.
- Provide technical direction while remaining actively involved in development and issue resolution.
- Coordinate technical dependencies and ensure development activities remain aligned with project milestones.
- Maintain clear technical documentation, work plans, decisions, and status updates.
- Represent the technical team in customer discussions and communicate recommendations, risks, and technical considerations clearly.
- Work effectively with assertive stakeholders, navigating disagreements while maintaining project momentum.
- Partner with functional, technical, and project teams throughout implementation, testing, and deployment.
Required Qualifications - 10+ years of SAP experience.
- Strong hands-on SAP ABAP development experience.
- Hands-on experience performing ABAP code remediation for S/4HANA.
- Experience completing at least two brownfield SAP S/4HANA implementations.
- Demonstrated experience leading SAP technical development efforts or workstreams.
- Ability to plan and organize technical work while continuing to contribute hands-on.
- Strong documentation, organization, and attention to detail.
- Strong customer-facing communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to confidently lead technical discussions and constructively manage challenging stakeholder dynamics.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience leading complex, enterprise-scale SAP S/4HANA transformation programs.
- Experience assessing and remediating large volumes of legacy ABAP custom code.
- Previous experience serving as the primary technical liaison between SAP development teams and customer leadership.
- Experience supporting S/4HANA programs through testing, deployment, and post-go-live stabilization.
- Interest in converting to a full-time position following the initial contract engagement.
