### Job Summary Thinking Minds' client is seeking a SAP PP Consultant to own production planning for a new manufacturing facility. This onsite role will strengthen the SAP ECC backbone while connecting planning processes with AI-supported forecasting, scheduling, quality, and maintenance capabilities. The consultant will translate operational needs into practical solutions and actionable insights for planners, supervisors, and shop-floor teams.
### Ideal Candidate Should Have
A hands-on approach to understanding production lines, operating constraints, and planning challenges before proposing changes.
Strong root-cause analysis skills and a commitment to sustainable corrective actions rather than temporary workarounds.
The ability to explain planning issues to supervisors, communicate technical designs to developers, and coach plant users.
A practical understanding of manufacturing operations, Lean/Kaizen, and measurable business outcomes.
### Key Responsibilities
Own SAP PP configuration across material master MRP views, bills of material, routings, work centers, capacity planning, MRP, production orders, confirmations, backflush, and goods movements.
Improve integration with MM, SD, QM, PM, and CO, collaborating with technical and Basis teams where integration support is needed.
Deliver AI-supported demand and component forecasting, finite scheduling, production sequencing, predictive quality, scrap reduction, and maintenance signals linked to PP capacity.
Define interfaces using RFC/BAPI, IDoc, and OData/Gateway, including data extraction and returning model outputs to SAP transactions.
Write functional specifications, collaborate with ABAP developers, and read and debug ABAP when required.
Lead change control, testing, cutover, go-live, user training, and knowledge transfer; track schedule adherence, inventory, scrap, throughput, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
### Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
5 years of hands-on SAP PP configuration in discrete manufacturing using SAP ECC 6.0, including full implementation or major rollout experience.
Working knowledge of SAP MM and PP-MM-SD-CO integration, with exposure to SAP QM and PM.
Practical experience with enhancement points, BAdIs, user exits, and clear functional documentation.
SAP data extraction experience using analytics or machine-learning platforms such as Databricks, Azure Machine Learning, or Python tooling, plus delivery of a production AI or advanced-analytics use case beyond proof of concept.
Strong knowledge of MRP logic, lead times, capacity planning, and lot sizing.
### Preferred Qualifications
S/4HANA Production Planning knowledge and familiarity with the ECC-to-S/4HANA transition.
Manufacturing execution or shop-floor data-collection systems experience and SAP interfaces.
Exposure to large language model tooling for document processing, planner assistance, or code generation.
SAP PP certification.
