Job Title: Senior Java Developer / SDET
Location: Austin, TX – Hybrid (4 Days Onsite)
Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Java Developer / SDET with 7+ years of experience and strong hands-on coding skills. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Java/Spring Boot, API development, test automation, Kafka, and AI-assisted development using GitHub Copilot.
The team will build APIs to collect and extract Salesforce data and deliver it to a homegrown desktop application. Both Developers and SDETs must be strong programmers who can design, develop, test, and troubleshoot applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build and support REST APIs and integrations.
- Develop solutions to extract Salesforce data and integrate it with custom applications.
- Design and implement automated testing solutions and frameworks.
- Write production-quality code for both application development and test automation.
- Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and business stakeholders to define requirements and estimate development efforts.
- Decompose user stories, design features, prioritize tasks, and deliver solutions in an Agile environment.
- Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Troubleshoot application and environmental issues.
- Use GitHub Copilot and AI tools as part of the day-to-day development workflow.
- Stay current with emerging development, testing, automation, and AI technologies.
Required Technical Skills:
- 7+ years of professional Java development experience
- Strong Java Core and Spring Boot experience
- Strong backend/API development experience
- REST API development and testing
- GitHub Copilot – Required
- Experience with Kafka and enterprise messaging
- Strong understanding of scalable and fault-tolerant systems
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Strong coding and troubleshooting skills
SDET / Test Automation Experience:
Candidates with SDET backgrounds must have hands-on coding experience, not just experience using automation frameworks.
Preferred experience includes:
- Building automation frameworks with Java backend
- Selenium, Playwright, or Appium
- Cucumber / Gherkin / BDD
- TDD and automated testing
- REST API testing using tools such as SoapUI or Advanced REST Client
- Backend-to-frontend test orchestration
- Writing and maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks
Preferred Technical Qualifications:
- Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF)
- Kafka Streams
- RabbitMQ / WMQ
- MongoDB, Oracle, or SQL
- Hibernate
- UML
- CI/CD tools such as Bamboo and Bitbucket
- Zephyr
- Shell scripting / PowerShell
- Splunk
- Salesforce data integration with custom applications
