Role: DevOps Engineer
Location: Bellingham, WA - Onsite, Hybrid
Compensation: $73,500 - $95,000 + Bonus Eligibility
Position Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Ledgent Technology has partnered with a growing organization seeking a DevOps Engineer to support infrastructure automation, cloud platforms, and enterprise data solutions.
This role will focus on building scalable systems, improving operational efficiency, and supporting mission-critical applications within a collaborative, technology-driven environment.
We are seeking a DevOps Engineer with a background in science, engineering, data systems, or a related technical discipline. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building scalable infrastructure, automating workflows, and supporting complex data analysis and modeling initiatives.
The successful candidate will have 3-7 years of experience working in DevOps, cloud environments, or scientific computing and will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including software developers, engineers, analysts, and technical stakeholders. This position offers the opportunity to support innovative projects while improving data systems, automation, and technical workflows.
Key Responsibilities
DevOps & Technical Enablement
- Identify technology needs, recommend solutions, and support adoption of best practices.
- Administer and maintain DevOps platforms that support technical and analytical applications.
- Assist in the development, maintenance, documentation, and enhancement of software tools, code libraries, and technical workflows.
- Improve the reliability, usability, and consistency of shared technical resources.
- Develop reusable solutions that support data analysis, visualization, modeling, and computational initiatives.
Data & Project Support
- Build and maintain automated infrastructure supporting large-scale data processing and analysis.
- Support the development and optimization of complex models and computational workflows.
- Improve data input/output efficiency and overall system performance.
- Create tools and processes that help communicate technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ensure reliability and performance of data systems supporting high-volume analysis and reporting.
Collaboration, Security & Compliance
- Partner with software engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency.
- Implement DevOps best practices around automation, monitoring, deployment, and system reliability.
- Integrate security controls and compliance considerations into development pipelines and cloud environments.
- Support governance, documentation, and operational standards for infrastructure and data management.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Physical Sciences, or a related field.
- 3-7 years of professional experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, software engineering, scientific computing, or a related discipline.
- Experience with Python and/or R, including libraries such as:
- NumPy
- Pandas
- Matplotlib
- Tidyverse
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Strong understanding of Linux/Unix environments.
- Experience with Git-based version control and modern software development practices.
- Familiarity with APIs, automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, containerized environments, and reproducible workflows.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience supporting large-scale data analysis, modeling, or analytics initiatives.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and scientific computing methodologies.
- Experience with large datasets and automated reporting workflows.
- Familiarity with geospatial technologies such as ArcGIS.
- Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments.
- Technical documentation and report-writing experience.
