Role: Data Systems Engineer
Position Type: Direct Hire
Location: Troutdale, OR - Onsite
Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000/yr.
Position Overview
A local client is on the hunt for a Data Systems Engineer to support and enhance business-critical data infrastructure, reporting systems, and internally developed applications. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting technical issues, improving business processes, managing data systems, and supporting AI-enabled business tools.
The successful candidate will maintain existing data and reporting solutions, support an internally developed AI application, and collaborate across departments to ensure accurate and reliable business data.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, monitor, and optimize SQL Server databases.
- Support and enhance internally developed applications and automation tools.
- Maintain an existing AI-powered business solution built by a departing team member.
- Develop, modify, and troubleshoot reports across various reporting platforms.
- Monitor data flows between ERP systems, databases, and reporting tools.
- Troubleshoot application, database, and integration issues.
- Perform data validation, corrections, and quality assurance activities.
- Support deployments and system changes through established processes.
- Develop and troubleshoot SQL queries, stored procedures, and related database objects.
- Identify and resolve reporting and data consistency issues.
- Document systems, processes, and technical solutions.
- Partner with business stakeholders to improve system functionality and business processes.
- Assist with modernization initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
Required Qualifications
- Experience supporting business applications, reporting systems, or data solutions.
- Strong SQL Server development, reporting, or database experience.
- Experience troubleshooting data, application, and integration issues.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Python development or automation experience.
- Experience working with REST APIs and system integrations.
- Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI, SSRS, Tableau, or similar platforms.
- ERP system experience.
- Manufacturing industry experience preferred.
- ETL and data integration experience.
- Knowledge of IIS, application deployments, and change management practices.
- Understanding of database performance tuning, backup, and recovery concepts.
- Experience with C# development.
- Familiarity with AI tools, workflow automation, LLMs, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI, Azure AI, or similar technologies.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has experience supporting reporting environments, business applications, and data systems. Strong reporting experience is highly valued, and while SQL and Python are preferred, candidates with transferable experience in analytics, business systems, reporting platforms, or data management will also be considered.
