Network Operations Engineer to provide off-hours network support and execute critical infrastructure lifecycle initiatives. This role combines network operations, change execution, hardware refresh activities, and proactive maintenance to ensure a stable and high-performing enterprise network environment.
This is a fully remote opportunity for a dedicated resource who can work independently during overnight hours while collaborating closely with the broader Network Engineering team.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Tier 1 network operations support during designated off-hours coverage.
- Monitor network health, triage alerts, and resolve issues using established procedures and runbooks.
- Execute approved network changes involving switches, wireless networking, and firewalls.
- Perform firmware upgrades, hardware refreshes, equipment replacements, and patching activities.
- Support remote site teams during network hardware installations and replacements.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues across an enterprise environment.
- Document incidents, changes, and resolutions with a high level of accuracy.
- Escalate complex networking issues to senior engineering teams as needed.
- Participate in daily team standups and maintain effective communication with stakeholders.
Required Qualifications- Hands-on experience with enterprise network infrastructure, including:
- Firewalls
- Routers
- Switches
- Wireless networking technologies
- Experience performing:
- Firewall upgrades
- Switch upgrades
- Firmware upgrades
- Network device replacements
- Strong troubleshooting experience within large-scale enterprise environments.
- Solid understanding of:
- TCP/IP
- DNS
- DHCP
- VLANs
- Routing and switching concepts
- Wireless networking fundamentals
- Experience executing changes within a structured change management process.
- Ability to work independently during off-hours while maintaining strong documentation standards.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Preferred Experience- Experience with enterprise networking platforms such as:
- Cisco
- Juniper
- Aruba
- Palo Alto
- ClearPass
- Comparable enterprise network technologies
- Previous experience supporting hardware lifecycle management and infrastructure refresh initiatives.
Schedule & TrainingCoverage Hours:- Sunday through Thursday
- 12:30 AM - 9:30 AM CST
Training & Onboarding:- Approximately the first month will be conducted during standard business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM CST) to support onboarding and knowledge transfer.
- Attendance at daily team standups is required.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Brookfield, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.
