Job Summary
The client is seeking a hands-on JIRA Specialist to optimize and improve an existing, post-migration JIRA environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in JIRA administration, configuration, workflow design, Agile/Scrum processes, dashboards, reporting, and process standardization.
This role will focus on assessing the current JIRA setup, improving backend configurations, refining workflows, standardizing processes, and partnering with internal business teams, IT, and external vendors to improve overall JIRA usage and visibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and optimize the existing post-migration JIRA environment.
- Rework and improve JIRA workflows for Stories, Tasks, Sub-tasks, and Bugs.
- Configure and refine statuses, critical paths, permissions, issue types, and workflows.
- Establish appropriate Production vs. Non-Production environment tagging.
- Standardize issue types, priorities, severity levels, and sprint accountability.
- Translate Agile/Scrum team processes into effective JIRA workflow configurations.
- Improve JIRA boards, dashboards, filters, and reporting.
- Provide better visibility into project progress, sprint health, and overall delivery status.
- Coordinate process improvements across business teams, IT, and external vendor partners.
- Document refined workflows, configurations, and processes.
- Create lightweight user guides and documentation to support long-term adoption.
- Identify opportunities to improve JIRA processes, usability, and governance.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on JIRA Administration/Configuration experience.
- Strong experience configuring JIRA workflows, issue types, permissions, boards, dashboards, and reports.
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum and sprint-based software delivery.
- Experience improving and optimizing an existing JIRA environment, rather than only implementing JIRA from scratch.
- Experience with workflow redesign and process standardization.
- Strong stakeholder communication and coordination skills.
- Experience working with internal IT/business teams and external vendors.
- Excellent documentation and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with JIRA Cloud in a large or governed enterprise environment.
- Experience with Confluence.
- Knowledge of Advanced Roadmaps.
- Experience with Zephyr or other JIRA testing/QA integrations.
- Experience supporting enterprise Agile transformation or JIRA governance.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a JIRA Administrator / JIRA Specialist who can work hands-on with the backend configuration of an established JIRA environment, improve workflows and standards, build effective dashboards/reporting, and work closely with Agile teams and business stakeholders.
