Role Overview
This position is accountable for the technical architecture of a key application. This is a hands-on architecture role that involves designing and validating solutions across an AWS-hosted, Pega-driven stack, defining how services and components integrate, and ensuring the platform maintains performance, scalability, and security. The role requires the production of architecture artifacts, the review and guidance of implementation, and direct collaboration with engineering, quality assurance, and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and document the application's system-level architecture across AWS infrastructure, Pega workflows, and supporting .NET/C# services.
- Define integration points, including APIs, data flows, and event contracts between application components and adjacent systems.
- Produce architecture diagrams, data-flow diagrams, and technical specifications to guide implementation.
- Apply Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform / OpenTofu) practices.
- Design for scalability, fault tolerance, and security from the outset, including within an event-driven architecture where applicable.
- Partner with engineering, QA, and product/business stakeholders to translate requirements into workable architectural solutions.
- Review code and design artifacts from the engineering team against the intended architecture and engineering standards.
- Monitor for architectural drift, performance bottlenecks, and integration issues, and drive the resolution of system-level problems.
- Evaluate new tools or patterns for architectural fit before adoption.
- Maintain up-to-date architecture documentation and identify architecture-level risks.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience: 5-8 years of overall IT experience, including at least 2-3 years in a system or solutions architecture role. Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and supporting complex, cloud-native system architectures. Working expertise in integration patterns, APIs, and microservices/event-driven communication.
