Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Intermediate IT Business Analyst to support strategic, tactical, and operational technology initiatives within a large enterprise environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in requirements elicitation, business process analysis, stakeholder management, testing/UAT, and translating business needs into effective technology solutions.
This role is ideal for a Business Analyst who enjoys working closely with both business and technical teams, analyzing complex business processes, identifying improvement opportunities, and contributing to the successful delivery of enterprise initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Elicit, analyze, validate, and document complex business and system requirements.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, and project teams to understand current and future business needs.
- Develop and maintain Business Analysis Plans and requirements documentation.
- Document current-state and future-state business processes.
- Identify process gaps, improvement opportunities, and potential technology solutions.
- Develop business requirements, functional requirements, use cases, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Create test cases and test scenarios and support the testing lifecycle from planning through execution.
- Coordinate and support UAT, SIT, defect tracking, and issue resolution.
- Analyze business data and identify data quality considerations relevant to business objectives.
- Collaborate with solution architects, developers, designers, and other technical teams to ensure business requirements are properly addressed.
- Translate business process requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings, workshops, requirements sessions, and solution discussions.
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders and support informed decision-making.
- Contribute to complex enterprise projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support to junior or less-experienced Business Analysts when required.
- Maintain appropriate documentation related to business processes, requirements, testing, and solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, IT Business Analyst, or Business Systems Analyst.
- Strong experience with requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, and validation.
- Experience documenting business processes, use cases, user stories, and functional requirements.
- Experience developing test cases and supporting UAT/SIT activities.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Experience working with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Ability to understand business needs and translate them into effective technology solutions.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Azure DevOps (ADO).
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Business Process Modeling / BPMN experience.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, engineering, aerospace, defense, or other complex enterprise environments.
- Experience with systems integration and business/technical interfaces.
- Knowledge of data analysis, data quality, and data flows.
- Lean Six Sigma or Change Management experience.
- ECBA, CCBA, CBAP, or similar Business Analysis certification.
- Experience working on large-scale enterprise transformation or continuous improvement initiatives.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on IT Business Analyst who can independently engage stakeholders, understand complex business processes, document requirements, support testing, and work effectively with technical teams to deliver practical solutions.
Candidates must be comfortable working fully onsite in Dartmouth, NS.
