Senior ERP Business Analyst - Finance

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior ERP Business Analyst - Finance to serve as the critical link between Finance stakeholders and Information Technology teams during the planning, implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of enterprise business systems. This role combines advanced business analysis expertise with strong financial operations knowledge to drive process improvements, define business requirements, support ERP initiatives, and facilitate organizational change.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with finance functions, ERP implementations, stakeholder engagement, and business process transformation.
Key Responsibilities
<>Finance Business Partnership>
Act as the primary Business Analyst supporting finance-related operations, including:
- General Ledger (GL)
- Accounts Payable (AP)
- Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Budget Planning and Management
- Procurement and Purchasing
- Fixed Assets Management
- Grants and Project Accounting
- Cash and Treasury Management
- Financial Reporting and Analytics
- Fiscal Year-End Processes
- Internal Controls and Compliance
- Audit Support Activities
<>ERP Implementation & Optimization>
Support ERP implementation and enhancement initiatives from project planning through post-go-live stabilization.
- Collaborate with implementation partners, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
- Evaluate ERP capabilities against business requirements and operational needs.
- Support solution validation, system configuration reviews, and testing activities.
- Coordinate and participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Contribute to change management, user readiness, and adoption initiatives.
- Assist with process standardization and continuous improvement efforts.
<>Business Analysis & Process Improvement>
Serve as the liaison between business teams and technical resources to deliver effective business solutions.
- Lead discovery workshops, stakeholder interviews, and requirements-gathering sessions.
- Elicit, analyze, validate, and document business and functional requirements.
- Create current-state and future-state process maps and workflows.
- Conduct gap analyses to identify opportunities for process improvement and system optimization.
- Facilitate discussions and build consensus among diverse stakeholder groups.
- Develop business cases, recommendations, and solution proposals.
- Maintain requirements traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support testing, issue resolution, and post-implementation activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor''s degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Business Analysis.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting ERP implementation projects, including workflow, process, and business rule configuration.
- Demonstrated experience supporting finance operations as a Business Analyst.
- Strong understanding of core finance processes and accounting principles.
- Experience documenting business processes and requirements using industry-standard methodologies (e.g., BPMN, process modeling, user stories, functional requirements, gap analyses, test scenarios, traceability matrices).
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, business leaders, and technical stakeholders.
- Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to influence decision-making, navigate complex discussions, and drive consensus toward standardized solutions.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Workday Financial Management or other cloud-based ERP platforms such as Oracle Cloud ERP, SAP S/4HANA, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or Unit4.
- Experience supporting finance operations within higher education, public sector, nonprofit, or similarly complex organizations.
- Professional certifications such as:
- CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional)
- PMI-PBA (Professional in Business Analysis)
- PMP (Project Management Professional)
- Experience with financial reporting, compliance, governance, and audit processes.
- Knowledge of organizational change management and user adoption practices.
