Network Test Engineer
W2 Contract
Pay Rate: $60 - $70 per hour
Location: Denver, CO - Hybrid Role
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Network Test Consultant to validate and improve an in-house network security platform. This role focuses on network testing, validation, troubleshooting, and test automation, not product software development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Validate networking software running on enterprise network switches and Linux-based environments.
- Design, execute, and maintain functional, integration, regression, and system-level test plans.
- Work within network testbed environments to qualify networking software before release.
- Diagnose networking failures, isolate root causes, validate fixes, and clearly communicate findings.
- Configure and troubleshoot enterprise network switches and Linux systems.
- Develop and maintain Python-based automation to improve testing efficiency.
- Analyze packet flows, logs, and networking behavior to identify product defects.
- Collaborate with software engineers, hardware engineers, and networking specialists to resolve issues.
- Document test procedures, defects, and technical recommendations.
- Continuously improve testing processes and automation coverage.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in testing, validating, supporting, or troubleshooting enterprise networking products or network infrastructure.
- Experience working with Linux operating systems.
- Strong understanding of:
- TCP/IP
- Ethernet
- Layer 2 Switching
- Layer 3 Routing
- VLANs
- Common enterprise networking protocols
- Experience configuring or troubleshooting managed enterprise switches.
- Hands-on experience with at least one enterprise networking platform such as Cisco, Arista, Juniper, or equivalent.
- Experience creating and executing structured test plans and test cases.
- Experience writing automation using Python or a similar scripting language.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently after an initial onboarding period.
