The Boeing Company is looking for a
Software Design and Analysis Engineer to join our Bombers team at
Edwards Air Force Base, California. This position supports developmental ground and flight testing of Boeing B-1B Lancer and B-52H Stratofortress programs. The Boeing Company supports multiple platforms at Edwards AFB in conjunction with 419th Flight Test Squadron, Global Power Bomber Combined Test Force (CTF), working directly with government and industry partners to improve the warfighting capabilities of the United States Air Force.
Edwards AFB is the home of the 412th Test Wing and the 2nd largest Air Force base. The Test Wing oversees base day-to-day operations and provides support for over 10,000 military, federal, civilian, and contract personnel assigned to a 481-square mile installation. The 412th Test Wing plans, conducts, analyzes, and reports on all flight and ground testing of aircraft, weapons systems, software and components as well as modeling and simulation for the U.S. Air Force. There are three core components for this mission: flying operations, maintenance, and engineering.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced and Senior Level Software Design and Analysis Engineers.
Travel: This position may require up to 10% travel.
Position Responsibilities:- Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system
- Develops documents and maintains architecture, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
- Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met
- Develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, tools and metrics
- Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations
- Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards
- Understands operating systems hardware/driver interfaces
- Troubleshoots hardware/driver compatibility problems with the current and prior Windows systems
- Interprets existing software code and transform it to modern standards while maintaining functionality
- Works under general direction
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):- Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
- 3+ years of experience with data acquisition systems and/or computer hardware interfaces
- 3+ years of experience software architecture and design of embedded software systems
- 3+ years of experience in hardware or software requirements, design/development, analysis, integration or testing/verification activities
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):- Level 4: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- An active U.S. Secret Security Clearance in the past 24 months
- 3 or more years of experience with instrumentation electrical design
- Understand operating systems hardware/driver interfaces with ability to troubleshoot hardware/driver compatibility problems within the current and prior Windows Systems
- Ability to deconstruct and interpret existing software code and ability to edit and transform it to modern standards while maintaining functionality
- Troubleshooting and interpreting experience with C/C++, C#/.NET and Windows operating systems
- Experience working in a Test Environment (Aircraft, Flight Line, Laboratory)
- Experience with instrumentation and data systems

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range for Experienced Level (Level 3): $119,850 - $162,150
Summary Pay Range for Senior Level (Level 4): $146,200 - $197,800
