Role Summary
We are seeking an onsite Ignition Engineer for deployment, commissioning, and end-to-end validation of our Ignition-based SCADA/MES solution at the manufacturing site. This role is hands-on on the plant floor, ensuring the solution is installed correctly, integrated with plant systems, tested across all layers, and ready for production use.
You will work closely with engineering, operations, IT, and vendors to move from configured/test environments to a validated, production-ready system with documented evidence of correct behavior.
Required Skills
Strong experience with Ignition 8.1+, including Gateway deployment, project publishing, client rollout, and Perspective application validation
Proficiency in Python scripting (Jython) within Ignition for verifying automation logic, event handling, and runtime behavior
Solid SQL/database skills to validate data integrity, troubleshoot stored procedures, and confirm schema behavior across multiple tables in a SCADA/MES environment
Hands-on experience deploying and validating SCADA and MES systems, including data acquisition, visualization, historian integration, and reporting
Familiarity with industrial protocols (OPC UA, MQTT) and onsite integration with PLCs and plant systems
Strong understanding of data modeling, historian systems, and real-time data processing in live manufacturing environments
Experience with test planning, defect triage, and end-to-end validation of integrated industrial systems
Ability to work onsite with operations, maintenance, controls, and IT teams during commissioning and go-live
Nice to Have
Experience with Ignition Gateway scripting, tag configuration, security models, and role-based access validation
Knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript for validating advanced Perspective customizations
Experience with FTP/SFTP for file-based integrations and deployment-related data exchange
Exposure to manufacturing workflows, OEE, and production tracking validation
Familiarity with commissioning documentation, traceability matrices, and validation/test evidence packages
Experience supporting multi-environment promotion (dev/test/prod) and production cutover activities
Work Location
Onsite role at the manufacturing facility
Regular collaboration with plant operations, controls, IT, and project stakeholders
Availability during commissioning windows, testing cycles, and go-live support periods
Deliverables:
Deploy and commission Ignition Gateway, Perspective clients, projects, tags, scripts, and database connections in onsite environments Validate end-to-end data flow from PLCs/plant systems through Ignition to historians, MES tables, dashboards, alarms, and reports Execute integration, system, and UAT testing against functional and operational requirements Perform site acceptance testing (SAT) and support go-live readiness activities Troubleshoot deployment issues related to networking, OPC UA/MQTT connectivity, database access, client performance, and security configuration Verify tag configuration, alarming, scripting behavior, and Perspective screen functionality in real production conditions Support cutover, rollback planning, and hypercare during and after go-live Document test results, defects, remediation actions, and validation evidence for stakeholders Coordinate with onsite teams to validate manufacturing workflows, production tracking, and reporting accuracy
