Our challenge:
We are seeking a highly skilled Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) with a strong Java engineering background and hands-on experience leveraging Devin AI and AI-powered software development workflows. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, customer success, solution architecture, and AI-driven development.
As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will work directly with enterprise clients to understand business challenges, design scalable technical solutions, deploy AI-assisted applications, and accelerate software delivery through agentic AI frameworks such as Devin. You will act as a trusted technical advisor and bridge the gap between customer requirements and engineering execution.
The ideal candidate is an experienced Developer who can architect enterprise solutions, work closely with stakeholders, and utilize advanced AI coding agents to improve productivity, automate workflows, and deliver impactful business outcomes.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC/Irving, TX is $135k - $145k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
Client Engagement & Solution Development
- Partner directly with client stakeholders, product owners, and engineering teams to understand business requirements and technical challenges.
- Design and implement client-specific solutions using Java-based technologies and AI-powered development tools.
- Translate business needs into scalable technical architectures and deployment strategies.
- Act as a trusted advisor, providing technical recommendations and solution roadmaps.
AI-Powered Engineering & Devin AI
- Utilize Devin AI and other AI engineering agents to automate software development tasks.
- Fine-tune AI-assisted workflows for coding, debugging, testing, documentation, and deployment activities.
- Evaluate and optimize AI-generated code for scalability, maintainability, and security.
- Implement AI-driven engineering best practices across software delivery lifecycle.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to improve AI-assisted development capabilities.
Software Development
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Java applications.
- Build RESTful APIs and microservices using Spring Boot and related frameworks.
- Develop scalable backend systems integrating cloud-native architectures.
- Ensure high-performance, reliable, and secure application development.
Customer Deployment & Enablement
- Lead customer implementations, proof-of-concepts, and production deployments.
- Configure and integrate client systems with AI-powered applications and platforms.
- Conduct technical workshops, demonstrations, and training sessions.
- Troubleshoot complex customer issues and provide technical guidance.
Architecture & Integration
- Develop solution architectures across cloud and on-premises environments.
- Integrate enterprise applications with third-party APIs, databases, and SaaS platforms.
- Support CI/CD automation and DevOps best practices.
- Drive modernization initiatives leveraging AI capabilities.
Required Skills:
- 15+ years of software engineering experience.
- Strong experience in Java Full Stack application development.
- Strong experience in Devin and Claude at the enablement and adoption level
- Experience in building high value Devin playbooks for greenfield, brownfield and migration use cases
- Experience working directly with enterprise customers in a client-facing technical role.
- Experience deploying and supporting cloud-based solutions.
Preferred, but not required:
- Experience with autonomous software engineering platforms such as Devin.
- Exposure to multi-agent AI systems.
- Experience with Generative AI solution implementation.
- Knowledge of vector databases and semantic search.
- Experience integrating LLMs into enterprise applications.
- Familiarity with MLOps concepts and AI governance frameworks.
- Exposure to Palantir-style Forward Deployed Engineering environments.
- Consulting or customer-facing solution engineering background.
