Senior Product Manager – PSPS
Location: Oakland, CA
Duration: 6 months (possibility of extension and conversion to full-time)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – typically 2–3 days/week in the office as needed
Potential Office Locations: Oakland, San Ramon, or other assigned client locations
Compensation: $55 - $65/hr on W2Work Environment
This is a hybrid role. The team primarily works remotely but requires the candidate to work from an assigned office approximately 2–3 days per week as needed. Candidates should be local to the Oakland/San Ramon/Dublin area and comfortable participating in in-person collaborative workshops.
Position Overview
We are looking for a
Senior Product Manager to support the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) program. This role will work closely with Distribution Engineers, Distribution Program Leads, PSPS IT teams, Product Managers, and the PMO to maintain and enhance PSPS scoping products and support the Go-Live of the PSPS/ADMS module.
The ideal candidate is a
self-driven Product Manager with strong communication and stakeholder-management skills who can work effectively in a large, matrixed organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a strong understanding of PSPS scoping products, business processes, and stakeholder requirements.
- Contribute to the Product Roadmap and Product Backlog.
- Partner with business and technology stakeholders to define desired business outcomes.
- Identify and support business process improvements and product prioritization.
- Create detailed feature requirements and documentation for prioritized features.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for communicating business/product requirements to IT.
- Facilitate and participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Support end-to-end business testing, including pre-season and in-season testing.
- Participate in product demonstrations and support training activities.
- Support the PSPS/Emergency Operations Center (EOC) team for the assigned product area when issues arise.
- Work as the subject-matter and content expert for the assigned product line.
- Collaborate across business, engineering, IT, and PMO teams to ensure successful product delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor''''s degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, Marketing, Psychology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant Product Management experience.
- Experience with project management and product delivery.
- Experience working in a large, matrixed organization.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder-management and collaboration skills.
- Self-driven, organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience gathering requirements and translating business needs into actionable product/technology requirements.
- Experience with UAT and business testing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the energy or electric utility industry.
- Experience with utility distribution, grid operations, PSPS, ADMS, or related technology.
- Experience working with commercial or industrial customers.
- Experience supporting energy-efficiency programs.
- Master''''s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Experience working with cross-functional technology and business teams.
