ABOUT LONE CYPRESS TECHNOLOGY
We are a San Antonio managed services partner. For about 25 years we have taken care of IT for small and mid-sized organizations across South Texas — law firms, accounting practices, architecture firms — along with a growing set of municipal and law-enforcement clients where we run an active CJIS compliance practice.
We are a small, steady team. We treat clients as partners rather than accounts, and we have kept many of them for a very long time.
THE ROLE
You will be our senior technical voice. You design the networks we install, you lead our project work from scope through cutover, and you are the last stop when a problem gets past our technicians. You will also sit in on client meetings alongside our vCIO and our salesperson when someone needs to explain what we are proposing and why it is the right call.
This is a client-facing engineering role, not an internal IT role. Our environments are well-standardized — this is not a job where you fight fires in chaos. It is a job where you decide what good looks like and then make sure we build it that way every time.
You report directly to ownership. There is nobody between you and the person who makes the call.
WHAT YOU''LL DO
• Design network, server, and cloud solutions for client environments, from small office refreshes through multi-site municipal deployments
• Own project delivery end to end: scope, technical plan, schedule, execution, and handoff — working with our Level II technician who handles much of the implementation
• Demonstrate knowledge of A.I. in our space and embrace the opportunities and challenges that com e with it.
• Act as the highest escalation point for technical issues our Help Desk and Level II tier cannot resolve
• Join pre-sales and vCIO client meetings to scope work, answer technical questions, and stand behind the recommendation
• Provide technical checklists and requirements to our vCIO, who owns compliance documentation
• Set and maintain our technical standards so every client environment is built the same way
• Mentor our technicians — not as a full-time responsibility, but as part of how the team gets better
WHAT YOU BRING
• 5+ years in an MSP, IT consulting firm, or similar multi-client environment
• Demonstrated network design experience: routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, site-to-site VPN, wireless
• Strong Microsoft 365 and Windows Server administration; Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint
• Virtualization and backup/disaster recovery experience — Hyper-V or VMware, and a modern BCDR platform
• Comfortable running a project: you can build a scope, hold to it, and tell a client when something has changed with clear communication within our team and client.
• Able to explain a technical recommendation to a business owner, an office manager, or a police chief without condescension and without jargon
• Valid driver''s license and reliable transportation — you will be at client sites in the San Antonio metro
• Authorized to work in the United States
NICE TO HAVE
• Experience with our stack: Autotask PSA, Datto RMM, IT Glue, SentinelOne, Barracuda XDR
• CJIS Security Policy familiarity, or any experience supporting law enforcement, courts, or municipal agencies
• SonicWall, HPE Aruba,, Ubiquiti, or comparable firewall and wireless platforms
• Microsoft, CompTIA, or Fortinet certifications
• Azure or hybrid-identity work
COMPENSATION
Base salary of $90,000, plus a performance bonus paid quarterly. The bonus is tied to three things you can actually control: project revenue delivered, gross margin held on the projects you scope, and client satisfaction on the escalations you handle. We are also implementing a profit sharing structure.
WHY LONE CYPRESS
• A steady team, not a churn shop. We have been doing this for 25 years and we intend to be here for 25 more.
• A direct line. You report to the owner. Your recommendation goes to the person who decides, not through three layers first.
• Real ownership. You will set our technical direction and our standards.
• Work that finishes. Our projects have a start and an end, and you will see them through.
• A bonus that is actually reachable. The targets are set against a real growth plan, not a number nobody hits.
• South Texas roots. We are a San Antonio company serving San Antonio organizations, and that matters to us.
