Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Staff Application Software Engineer to join our engineering team and contribute to the development of advanced software solutions for robotic-assisted medical technologies. The ideal candidate will be capable of quickly understanding existing architectures, integrating into established development teams, and delivering high-quality, production-ready software in a fast-paced environment.
In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain complex application software while collaborating closely with engineers, project managers, and subject matter experts. You will leverage sound software engineering practices, Agile methodologies, and modern development tools to create robust, reliable, and user-friendly software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Quickly learn and understand existing software architecture, codebases, and development processes.
- Design, develop, and implement application software components based on defined requirements and architectural guidelines.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient C++ code following established coding standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, project managers, and technical stakeholders.
- Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Conduct code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of software quality and development processes.
- Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and component-level testing.
- Support software quality initiatives through static and dynamic analysis, code coverage, defect management, and CI/CD practices.
- Create and maintain software engineering documentation in accordance with quality and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate technical progress, project risks, and design decisions effectively to team members and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 4+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in C++ and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
- Experience designing and developing software in production environments.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and software engineering principles.
- Experience working within Agile software development environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience joining projects mid-stream and rapidly becoming productive within existing teams.
- Hands-on experience with Qt/QML, Linux, and/or Docker.
- Knowledge of full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code coverage, static analysis, and defect tracking tools.
- Understanding of linear algebra, computational geometry, computer graphics, and algorithm development.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Medical Imaging
- Image Processing
- Computer Vision
- Robotics
- Computer-Assisted Surgery
- Experience developing software in regulated environments such as medical devices, healthcare technology, or other safety-critical systems.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to medical software development.
