Description
We are looking for a CAD Designer-Drafter/Configuration Management Manager to support engineering and technical documentation efforts within a secure defense environment. This role will be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining 3D solid models, engineering drawings, and configuration-controlled technical documentation. The role will work closely with senior engineers to develop formal engineering drawings from various sources, including existing models, prototypes, sketches, photographs, and physical components. Experience with Solid Edge CAD, configuration management practices, and engineering drawing standards is essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Create, modify, and maintain 3D solid models using Solid Edge CAD software.
Generate detailed 2D engineering drawings from 3D models using established drawing templates and standards.
Apply configuration management principles to technical drawings, models, and engineering documentation.
Update and revise existing drawings, models, and related technical documentation.
Develop engineering drawings from multiple sources, including prototypes, sketches, photographs, physical parts, and assemblies.
Support documentation efforts for mechanical parts, electrical cables, connectors, and electronic assemblies.
Ensure engineering documentation complies with quality, configuration control, and program requirements.
Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to maintain accurate technical data packages.
Requirements
Core Qualifications:
3-5+ years of experience using Solid Edge CAD in a professional engineering or design environment.
Experience creating and manipulating 3D solid models and producing detailed 2D engineering drawings.
Hands-on experience with configuration management processes and document control practices.
Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD& T).
Experience supporting mechanical, electrical, electronic, or electro-mechanical components and assemblies.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Excellent communication skills and strong follow-through.
Ability to work effectively in a highly structured engineering environment.
U.S. Citizenship and an active Secret Security Clearance are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Mechanical Engineering background or related technical discipline.
Experience supporting defense, aerospace, government, or highly regulated industries.
Familiarity with engineering drawing standards and formal release processes.
Experience working with electrical cable assemblies, connectors, circuit card assemblies, or electro-mechanical systems.
Prior experience supporting engineering teams in a configuration-controlled environment.
