Description
The System Engineer II supports the reliability, security, availability, and continuous improvement of enterprise cloud infrastructure and platform services. This role assists with Azure and/or AWS operations, cloud solution design, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and the deployment and operational support of AI services in Azure, including Microsoft Foundry. The position works closely with project managers, business stakeholders, application teams, and senior engineers to deliver scalable, secure, and well-documented technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Support daily operations, monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability for Azure and/or AWS environments.
Assist with the design, deployment, configuration, patching, and optimization of cloud infrastructure and platform services.
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Azure Bicep, Azure CLI, or PowerShell to enable repeatable and secure deployments.
Provision and support Azure AI services, including Microsoft Foundry, through environment setup, access management, monitoring, and documentation.
Partner with business and technical teams to gather requirements and deliver cloud-based solutions.
Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, standards, and operational procedures.
Participate in change management, production readiness, incident response, and availability management processes.
Identify automation opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Collaborate with senior engineers and architects on cloud standards, security practices, and platform enhancements.
Monitor cloud costs and recommend optimization opportunities.
Manage monitoring and observability tools such as Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and CloudWatch.
Support security patching, vulnerability remediation, and compliance controls.
Provide technical support and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
4+ years of enterprise IT experience.
Experience supporting cloud infrastructure in a medium to large organization.
Working knowledge of Azure and/or AWS services, including compute, networking, storage, identity, monitoring, security, and cost management.
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Azure Bicep and Azure CLI/PowerShell.
Understanding of cloud deployments, automation, troubleshooting, and operational support.
Familiarity with change management, incident management, and production support processes.
Strong documentation, analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
Ability to manage priorities and deliver work within established timelines.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft Foundry, Azure AI Services, AI model deployment, or AI platform operations.
Knowledge of responsible AI practices, AI operations, model lifecycle management, and prompt engineering.
Experience with AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Copilot Studio, Claude Code, or similar platforms.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, Git workflows, and deployment automation.
Scripting experience with PowerShell, Python, Bash, Azure CLI, or AWS CLI.
Knowledge of cloud security, identity management, monitoring, logging, compliance, and governance.
Relevant Azure, AWS, Terraform, or AI certifications.
Key Skills
