Senior Installation Field Engineer
Overview
We are seeking a technically skilled and people-friendly Senior Installation Field Engineer to support the VA’s Electronic Health Records (EHR) deployment and training projects. This role involves frequent travel, managing onsite technical teams, and providing high-quality customer service in dynamic environments. When not traveling, you'll perform daily helpdesk, system administrator, and network onsite tasks at the local VA. Education Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or equivalent, with 10 years of total experience, or 18 years of experience in lieu of a degree are required for this role.
Clearance Requirements
A Public Trust clearance is required for this role.
Work Arrangement
On-Site at the Department of Veterans Affairs facility in Omaha, Nebraska.
Responsibilities
- Oversee a team of onsite technicians supporting EHR deployment and training.
- Set up equipment at training sites, verify VA computer images, and ensure computers are ready for scheduled scans and updates.
- Configure Active Directory accounts, network connectivity, and install peripherals at each training seat.
- Manage baseband network and internet connectivity configuration, management, and issue resolution.
- Configure and manage Wi-Fi hardware and troubleshoot related issues.
- Support hardware start-up, imaging, configuration, updating, and break/fix activities.
- Manage inventory and ensure network connectivity during all training sessions.
- Provide onsite installation support and ongoing issue resolution with limited supervision.
- Transport IT equipment across training sites, often lifting up to 50 pounds, and perform setup/removal tasks in various environments.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience designing, analyzing, configuring, or troubleshooting IP networks.
- Experience managing technical teams.
- Experience with Wi-Fi hardware—configuration, management, and issue resolution.
- Experience with network hardware—installation, configuration, management, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with hardware and software support, system imaging, and break/fix support (laptops, desktops, printers).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience writing reports and deliverables.
- Familiarity with analyzing network traffic and diagnosing network issues.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Must have personal transportation available during work hours.

- Strong critical thinking and error assessment capabilities.

Pay Range
Pay range: $60,000–$75,000 per year.
This pay range is based on qualifications and experience, and assumes all role requirements are met.
