Job Title: Infrastructure Senior Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead department initiatives including but not limited to new installations, upgrades, and support of servers, storage, firewalls, email, telecom, backup, data centers, mobile devices, and business continuity / disaster recovery.
• Lead the discovery and implementation of new technologies, upgrade existing infrastructure, and maintain current operational systems, as assigned, ensuring the highest possible service delivery across all operational platforms.
• Architect, document, administrate, and maintain hosted and cloud infrastructure instances in adherence to the existing Technology Services standards.
• Provide support and work with the Response & Resolution Team, Technology Services senior staff and leadership to address on-going needs including new and break/fix requests that are submitted for resolution.
• Design, implement monitoring tools, and document infrastructure to enable visibility and reporting of performance for all systems including network utilization, server capacity, storage capacity, and system response time to ensure standards are being met.
• Define and perform system testing and provide quality assurance support on newly installed systems and changes to existing systems.
• Develop procedures and processes related to the back-up process, mobile device support, archival and purge processes, patch management, security updates, and data center maintenance.
• Maintain technology standards, policies and procedures, governance processes, and performance metrics for technology infrastructure to ensure value is delivered to the enterprise and expectations are exceeded.
• Pursue development and training opportunities to keep current on technology trends, existing systems, and procedures to ensure maximum value is delivered.
• Provide leadership in the development of documentation for network and computer systems under the direction of the Manager, Infrastructure.
• Assist in the development of appropriate policies, standards, and practices that meet the organization’s security requirements.
• Participate in special projects and handle all other assigned duties as required.

Requirements

• BA/ BS (4-year degree) or equivalent experience
• Experience with architecting Fortinet, VMWare, Barracuda, Data Centers, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Cisco network, VOIP phone system, Veeam, Windows Server, Linux, and monitoring technologies preferred
• Strong attention to details, support skills, and ability to document
• Systems Administration/System Engineer certifications a plus
• Ability to learn, apply, and support new technologies along with existing company supported applications
• Outstanding problem-solving abilities, a strong sense of urgency, and communication skills both written and verbal
• Ability to work seamlessly as part of a team and demonstrate a strong team commitment
• Participates in training, continuing education, or continuous improvement as approved by your manager
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technology solutions in business terms to all levels in the organization
• Ability to accommodate flexible schedules to meet the needs of the customer, including overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as required
• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally
• Must be able to sit on an almost continual basis and stand, walk, bend, or squat on an occasional basis in a normal office environment
• Must be able to travel less than 10%
