Join a growing telecommunications installation team as an Installation Technician 1. This is a hands-on field opportunity supporting telecom installation projects primarily within secure confinement facilities, with approximately 75% travel and overnight stays as needed.

This is a great opportunity for a telecom or low-voltage technician looking to build hands-on experience across structured cabling, Cat6, racks, switches, access points, and telephone systems. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter with a strong work history who takes pride in quality workmanship, punctuality, cleanup, documentation, and customer-facing communication. You'll work alongside experienced technicians while developing your installation, troubleshooting, and field project coordination skills.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 1-3 years of telecom installation or low-voltage field experience
  • Solid work record with good tenure history
  • Proactive self-starter with strong punctuality and cleanup skills
  • Experience with phone systems, structured cabling, Cat6 installation, racks, switches, and access points
  • Hands-on experience using drills, drivers, ladders, scissor lifts, single-man lifts, and installation tools
  • Basic troubleshooting of telecom/network equipment and ticketing systems
  • Ability to read and interpret basic architectural drawings and build documentation
  • Strong communication, documentation, and project coordination skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to travel extensively, approximately 75%+, including overnight travel
  • Comfortable working in secure/confinement facility environments, including prisons and jails
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Desired Skills & Experience
  • Technical training or coursework in telecommunications installation procedures
  • Experience installing, maintaining, or testing telecommunications equipment
  • Relevant technical training or internship experience
  • Knowledge of telephone equipment installation, maintenance, and testing procedures
  • Working knowledge of structured cabling, Cat6 color codes, relay switches, and rack-mounted equipment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

What You Will Be Doing
  • Assist with site surveys and collect field verification data for installation projects
  • Evaluate site logistics and help determine equipment, staffing, and coordination requirements
  • Review installation requirements with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Complete site walkthroughs and prepare build orders using approved documentation
  • Document and communicate relevant project information and maintain complete project files
  • Install equipment for new and existing clients according to approved installation schedules
  • Mount equipment and install conduit, wire mold, Cat6 cabling, switches, access points, racks, and shelving
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose basic equipment issues
  • Respond to and update trouble tickets using the approved ticketing system
  • Escalate complex technical issues to senior technicians as appropriate
  • Maintain the company vehicle in safe, fully operational condition
  • Track travel and vehicle-related expenses using approved software
  • Safely tow and operate trailers when required

Daily Responsibilities
  • Perform telecom and low-voltage equipment installations at client sites
  • Pull and install Cat6 structured cabling
  • Mount racks, switches, access points, shelving, and related equipment
  • Install and route conduit and wire mold
  • Conduct site walkthroughs and assist with site surveys
  • Review project requirements and approved installation documentation
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and files
  • Troubleshoot basic telecom and network equipment issues
  • Update and respond to trouble tickets
  • Communicate project status, questions, scope changes, and potential delays
  • Follow established safety procedures and facility regulations
  • Maintain professional relationships with facility personnel and team members
  • Travel approximately 75%+, including overnight stays as needed
  • Perform occasional evening and weekend work to meet project deadlines
  • Drive company vehicles and safely tow trailers when required
  • Lift and carry at least 85 pounds
