Location: Morrisville, North Carolina OR Fulton, Maryland (Hybrid - 2 days/week on-site)
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Security Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the security and compliance of our Azure cloud infrastructure. This role involves verifying correct environment configuration, managing access from a compliance perspective, overseeing governance over APIs, and ensuring vulnerability management. This person will be a key member of the team, making sure everything is correct from a security standpoint.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the Azure environment is securely and correctly configured according to best practices.
- Manage access from a compliance perspective, ensuring oversight and governance over APIs.
- Monitor and assess the environment to ensure continuous alignment with NIST 800-53 security controls.
- Create and manage tickets to address and remediate identified security gaps.
- Collaborate with DevOps, IT, and Compliance teams to support secure cloud operations.
- Automate security processes using scripting.
- Maintain documentation of security policies, procedures, and technical configurations.
- Stay current with Azure security best practices, compliance standards, and emerging threats.
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills:- Strong experience with Azure, including Defender and Defender for Cloud.
- Knowledge of EntraID/IAM, including certificates and policies.
- Proficiency in scripting.
- Understanding of secure cloud architecture and best practices for designing, deploying, and maintaining secure Azure environments.
- Expertise in compliance frameworks such as STIGs, CIS benchmarks, and NIST 800-53.
General Skills:- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to take initiative in an agile environment.
- A focus on customer service and customer relations.
- Strong knowledge of security best practices inside and outside of the cloud.
Preferred Qualifications
- Specific experience with Python scripting.
- Experience with Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of Github or Gitlab.
- Experience with Wiz, Tenable, or similar tools.
- Hands-on experience with SIEM tools, including running queries and creating alerts.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Certified Security - Specialty, CISSP) are preferred.
