Senior Mechanical Engineer | Manhattan, NYIMEG is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer in a brand-new Manhattan office, to lead the planning, design, and delivery of healthcare-focused mechanical systems-including HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection. In this role, you'll collaborate with clients and multi-discipline teams to develop code-compliant, high-performing solutions that support safe, efficient, and resilient facilities.
Principal Responsibilities- Lead the design of healthcare mechanical systems (HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) from concept through construction
- Serve as a technical leader for project execution, coordination, and delivery across internal and external stakeholders
- Develop and review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Coordinate with other disciplines to resolve clashes, improve constructability, and support integrated design outcomes
- Support client communication and technical decision-making throughout project development
- Guide quality control efforts and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and IMEG practices
- Provide construction administration support, including responses to RFIs/submittals and field observations as needed
- Mentor and support the growth of engineering staff through technical guidance and project leadership
Required Qualifications and Skills- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 14+ years of experience
- Mastery of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
- Mastery of technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems
- Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills
- Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
- Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to travel up to 25% with occasional overnight stays

State of New York Salary Range: $130,000 - $180,000
Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
