Description We are looking for a Network Engineer with strong Linux & Kubernetes experience to support the reliability, deployment, and ongoing improvement of software systems in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Linux/Network Support Engineer will support the design, development, implementation, and operation of technical products and systems. The role will focus heavily on deployment automation, continuous integration, cloud infrastructure, production support, monitoring, and containerized environments.
Biggest Needs- Strong networking fundamentals and hands-on network troubleshooting skills.
- Strong command of Linux environments.
- Hands-on Kubernetes experience.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities- Support vCMTS and RPHY turn-ups across the country.
- Perform vCMTS platform stand-up, software installation, and ongoing system and network maintenance.
- Implement changes, including system upgrades, RMAs, risk management, and automation.
- Develop automation scripts using Python, Bash, and similar technologies.
- Identify service-impacting trends and partner with development teams to implement long-term solutions.
- Troubleshoot server hardware, software, systems, and network issues.
- Handle incident mitigation for virtual Cable Modem Termination Systems.
- Partner with regional engineering teams to identify product reliability improvements and build automation tools.
- Work with Product and Project Management to integrate and operationalize new products.
- Build and replace system hardware as needed.
- Participate in an on-call rotation with the rest of the team.
Requirements Required Experience and Skills- Three or more years of production operations experience in a 24/7 environment.
- Strong Unix/Linux experience.
- Strong networking fundamentals.
- Proven network troubleshooting and configuration experience.
- Experience working with Juniper, Arista, or Cisco networking devices.
- Bash, Python, or other scripting and automation experience.
- Proven server hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
- Experience building and replacing system hardware.
- Ability to work outside regular business hours, including weekends and holidays, as part of an on-call rotation.
Preferred Skills- Kubernetes.
- Jenkins.
- Ansible.
- Git.
- Experience defining, implementing, and monitoring IT services.
- Exposure to new product integration.
- CCNA or JNCIA certification.
